I'm wondering if they' are good enough for cutting a metal CP?
-
I would email the seller and ask but usually if it doesn't say it can cut metal then it doesn't.

yeah..u need a different bit... if you go to home depot, they are in tools section..i brought a wood one for about 10-15 bucks...
-
i bought a greenlee hole punch.
it was the smartest thing i ever did. Makes perfect holes in metal and nothing other than a socket wrench is requred to use it...well you need a drill to make a starter hole.

here's the same one i got right now on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25296&item=3857768188&rd=1)

I have a feeling Brained isn't cutting button holes. The smallest hole saw in that set is 2.5"...

I'm cutting holes, but I just took one of them hole saw kit. But this seems to work..

It says it cuts sheet metal, but I dunno... A greenlee is way too expensive :S and I would still need a 3" one for my trackball ???

If you just want one punched, you can take it a machine shop or a welding shop nearby.
They can do one hole for you for cheap. You can have them punch it out with their greenlee punches.
You might be surprised how cheap it is to do that, especially if you take the plate and mark it up with a sketch.
After all, you are only making one.

I've got a few super cheap hole saws that I bought in a discount bin at a hardware store once. Utter crap. They can't even cut softwood. The only thing they're good for is plastic.

I'm going for the metal shop thing. I've already drilled pilots holes for the buttons, joystick and trackball... so what the heck
