Being the President if the US of A sure has its perks!
On Wednesday, Dec 1, I was scheduled to fly out from Ottawa to Newark on a 6:30 AM flight (ugh, I hate early mornings!). As fate would have it, I woke to a heavy snowfall (first of the year) which had accumulated by that time about 2-3 inches. I made my way to the Airport, boarded my flight promptly at 6:30 and our plane starts queuing up for the de-icing process. De-Icing for those of you not familiar with northern climates, is a process whereby each plane is sprayed with Orange and Green goop (*my technical term*)

although everyones schedule is important, i think the president has more pressing matters than most of us as we are trying to get home to see Grandma. i would still be pissed, but not pissed at the same time. just my 2 cents.

I've been in the crosshairs of a Secret Service "securing of the building" and you don't want that. You're better off going to a corner and waiting until he's well gone.

That's kinda' what I had in mind for the next four years.

Hey, at least he didn't block outgoing flights for two hours by sitting on the tarmac getting a haircut. ;)

A while back we had Clinton over in the Netherlands and for him the highway from the Hague to Schiphol was closed until he made his way across.

Yeah, this kind of thing happens all the time for dignitaries. Sometimes when the former President George H.W. Bush is in town with highly ranked officials, they shut down roads leading from the airport to the Bush Library while the dignitaries are in transit. Luckily, the library is very close to the airport (not that anything is very far from anything else in College Station).

We had similar troubles here in the U.S. Every year when Clinton wanted to give a speech, they'd block out hours of valuable TV viewing time that could have been better used airing a "this is how paint dries" program ;)
We passed by Air Force 1 and Air Force 2 as we were queuing to be de-iced (I never knew he travelled with two identical planes..., quite the redundancy system).
It's for security purposes, in case there's some wacked-out Canuck up there looking to play out his own "lone gunman" scenario because his flight was delay......nevermind, I've already said too much ;)

They don't mind us saying things about people from other countries, unless it is to agree with their anti-America views.
Then they pick us up in the white vans, ship us down to Gitmo, and torture us by keeping us awake, making us cold, and by fostering gingivitis amongst the detained.
I'd heard there was talk about commie sympathizers being shipped to Canada to become scab players for the NHL, though ;)
