Anyone know the most "space-sensitive" layout for two players and a trackball in the middle?
Preferably 6 buttons each, but I'll sacrifice to 4 if need be.
I was hoping for a 26"-28" wide CP.
thanks

Here is my 27.5" panel. I fit the 2 sticks/6 buttons with no problem, and it's still comfortable for two players. I added an offset "thumb" button to player one for the Defenders "reverse" function or offset Neo Geo button. The trackball mounting plate is a big space eater. If you're comfortable making the panel so the ball can just poke through the panel, you can make the layout even roomier.

when you say "just poke through the cp" are you saying without the mounting plate??
also, i think thats a bit deep for my style...have you ever seen that setup with the trackball in-line with the joysticks?
-
Yes, there are quite a few people who did the trackball without the plate. That'd let you move it up, and you could also use 3 of the joystick buttons as buttons for the ball if you need to. I eventually want to add a spinner, that's why I left the space above the ball.

cool, anyone have any concrete designs for something like this - or is it like everything in cabinet making: The cardboard Mock-up?
Cardboard mockup with all the parts would work i guess.

This is mine, and It's loaded in 25 1/2" inches!! :D

that layout kicks ass.....how did you make room for the trackball...i mean, doesn't it extend past the mounting plate underneath the wood?
also, how is this thing enclosed underneath? doesn't look like the sides leave room for enclosure underneath.

I like it do you have a full scale version of it you can send that I could use as a template?

mission - i took the image, blew it up to 25.5" wide with photoshop....then printed it out on 3 pieces of paper...
all the dimensions of the buttons, etc.. came out right.
i just want to know about beneath the panel, and how it was enclosed on the sides, front and back.
