Title: Can using a manual degaussing coil hurt your speakers?
Post by: jimj on December 02, 2004, 09:34:09 pm
I have computer speakers right above my monitor in my cab.  If I use a manual degaussing coil could it hurt my speakers?  If so would the speakers' shielding save them, or should I move the speakers out of the way first?

I've also read that you can use a degaussing coil with the monitor on or off.  Is one way better than the other?

If the first degaussing doesn't fix the problem can you degaus again right away or is there some minimum amount of time you have to wait between degaussings?

Thanks,
Jim

The speakers will hurt your monitor more than the degausser would ever hurt those speakers, from my understanding, your speakers will be perfectly fine.....speakers are only cardboard and such with a pretty strong magnet, alot stronger than the degausser.

Speakers will not be hurt by the degausser at all. :)

I degauss with the monitor on so I can see the result of my work as I do it.
