I want a ps2 system, I don't care what model it is. I have san andreas but no system to play it on. e-mail me if you have one for sale! thanks!
-
I'm guessing you want one that is in working condition, correct?
Mine has the laser adjustment problem, and I have absolutely no motivation to fix it just yet, as my kids are not sure if they'll get a new system for Christmas yet.
-
yes, a working system that doesn't give the disc read error
oh how people forget disc read error = broken useless system
lol
thanks anyway
-
I have absolutely no motivation to fix it
So u want to give it to me ??? i might be able to do somthing with it :)
Mame_freak

I wonder if the disc read errors can be aggravated by San Andreas. That game makes my PS2 do some really weird drive noises! No other games make it do noise like this....!
-
The disc read error was a known fault of the older newer whatever PS2's. The laser would slowly go out of alignment for some reason or other. There are more than a few online writeups on how to recalibrate or realign the things, but it's just so friggen low on my list of things to do that my kids will prolly end up fixing it.....if they want to. They pooled their money to buy it, but they view it as disposable. I told them if I end up fixing it before they do, it's mine, and I get to sell it if I want - that's my service charge
-
For those looking for a Playstation 2, you can join in on the console conga in the Conga Lines forum (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,26496.0.html); I was a big skeptic of those, but I joined up just before Halloween and I'm now pending shipment of my Playstation.... (Actually, they currently give you the option of actually shipping you a Playstation 2 or sending you a $160 Amazon online gift certificate.)

those conga lines are great, but a lot of times only the first 3 get them by leeching from the bottom rows and then you get nothing, sort of a reverse pyramid i dunno though, seems too much trouble to me, but it's working for a lot of you guys! good luck with that
-
Well, since this one only requires 3 people below you, it's pretty easy. I got two from this site and one from my office.
-
Drew, If you plan on getting rid of that ps2, let me know, i'm sure we can work out something as a trade
-
MnM, someone dropped me a line a bit ago, so if I decide to sell it, he's got first dibs.
Mine just has the "mark, unscrew, adjust, screw, test, repeat if necessary" problem, so I KNOW it's worth more than a useless non-working PS2....I'm gonna price 'em out hopefully tomorrow, and if the decision is to sell, I'll let him know, then you. Beyond that, everyone else just wait to see if it comes up here for sale.
WOW! I guess christmas IS coming soon :D
-
Drew, I have most of those peripherals, and dont wish to find a place to store more :D So go ahead and pass along that deal to whoever else wants it. Thanks for keeping me in mind though
-
No Problem, MnM, I was tidying this up last night because my sons did the devious thing. Uncle had the same thing happening, and they bartered - give him the solution if he'd fix their machine as well! Sneaky little bas....actually, I'm kinda proud of 'em using their heads like that.
I'm cleaning it up because I showed them how much I'd be selling it for with that problem, and they're contemplating still selling it anyway, now that it works, and picking up an XBOX. Same thing, when they get home from school, they're making some calls, and I'll finalize this tonight.
Only difference is that it now works. Price will remain the same if they choose to sell it. I will update this post after the MNF game to let anyone know.
*edit*
no sale, AND they want to pick up an XBOX. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled here for one, and I'll check out the local re-sellers in the area.
Thanks for your interest and patience

thats a pretty sorry set with the goofy third party stuff there... thats an extra hundred dollars for games and controllers people wouldn't have bought in the first place...
PLUS
disk read error
why not just call sony and have them fix it, in fact some model numbers they will fix free! if they try to fix it and take it apart then sony won't work on it, and God knows what other damage they'll do...the bottom line is that it needs a new drive from sony or it'll keep on giving the dre...
that's not really a fair price for that...you'd do better selling it to ebgames or something...
$250 for a broken ps2 that can't be serviced by sony because it has been opened and some games and third party crap nobody will buy who is a serious gamer... rethink that price man... throw out the ps2, sell the games at ebgames, you'll get around 75 dollars...

I'll help you out, since you've proven that you don't even read your own posts
It's FIXED
The only "goofy third party stuff in there" is a snowboard controller. Other than the MadCatz controllers (which you might want to get out of the house to check out - they're QUITE ubiquitous) all of the rest of it is Sony branded stuff.
I'll also help you out yet again.
It's not mine.
The decision will be my kids.
The price set is based upon how much I can buy a used playstation with one controller for. I'm not concerned with your assessment of my prices.
Games no one would buy anyway? Anyone here who owns one of those titles raise your hand. You're bordering on lunacy to assume no one would buy any of the Madden titles. If someone's buying a used PS2, they're CERTAINLY thinking about buying an older version of those games, and the fact that YOU don't want those games certainly isn't reflected in the sales of those games - new OR used.
The only "sorry" thing here is the fact that people are willing to treat you civilly in spite of what others state about you, and your response is to blitheringly spew crap from your keyboard in order to enlarge your own ePenis.
You might want to look up what the word "apology" means. I'd hate to "miss" you from the board again someday ::)

No thread poisoning.
-
sorry, i did not know that, i need to check the TOS for this board...
but
an older copy of madden is worth 1.50 at most
third party controllers just don't fit right with the system... i dunno
i was too harsh...i tend to get like that around exam time...
sorry for the upsetting post...
one thing that made me mad though
you're selling a broken, opened up and tinkered around with dre ps2...which is worth about 20 bucks on ebay. i think the price is a little bit too high...

Anyone who wants a link of the site used to fix the Disc Read Error PM me.
Much to the contrary of DCN, your PS2 WON'T be broken, it WILL work, and should it happen again, it's EASILY fixable should it ever happen to you again. It WILL void your warranty, but if you're contemplating this, your machine will be out of warranty anyway, otherwise you wouldn't be searching the 'net for a fix, and calling Sony will get you a "well, it's not under warranty, but it may be able to be fixed if you send it to one of our warranty repair centers". Do you think it'll cost you money? Hoping to get it fixed for free ? If so, I've got land in Joisey I kin sell ya.
