Title: Getting rid of/modifying BIOS boot info
Post by: mnm1200 on November 28, 2004, 02:24:35 pm
Hi. I'd like to get rid of the screen that shows what is in the PC, CPU speed, etc. and replace it with an image, series of images, image w/music, video, or video w/music. Is any of this possible? If so, what mobo would I need?

thx

Check out LinuxBIOS.

It can get rid of everything, and boot faster. Sorry, I've never tried it, so I can't help you.

It will depend on your mobo's bios settings.  I have an Asus mobo that has a checkbox in the bios settings that hide all that stuff, but in its place it puts a big fat @$$-ugly Asus logo.  IIRC, Abit or some other manu starting with A makes a custom bios screen program for its mobos, otherwise, they make it VERY difficult to change.  At best, they'll let you show an (singular) image, at worst, they'll let you display a black screen.

Do a Google for changing the BIOS bootup screens, and you'll quickly find the few (or only) mobo manu who allows this and what boards they allow it on.

That's awesome! Thx a lot. I have a feeling I'm going to kill a few mobos before I get it right though
