Title: happ trackball question
Post by: muell67 on November 26, 2004, 03:55:05 pm
I just recieved my happ 3" inch trackballl the translucent blue one with the usb and ps2 cable and wires for three buttons . I tested it out and it works great I just have one question and Im sure its a stupid one. There are wires coming from it that I dont know what to do with they come to a single connector is this a ground or is it for power. the site says it has lights on it I just need a 12v power source is this wire for that?

Pictures, show us some pictures. Saying it has wires coming off it is only slightly more usefull than the standard thing people tell computer tech people "my computer did something, and it had all these words on the screen".

I'm pretty sure its a ground wire with that ring at the end of it.  If the wire is green, I'm sure its a ground wire.

The green thing is a different ground. Run it to your cabinet ground strap, or to your metal control panel and monitor frame if you don't have a cabinet ground strap.

It is there to get rid of static electricity.

If you have neither one of those, then run the sucker to the coin door or the third prong of the power outlet.

Just so nobody has an accident connecting the green (earth) ground to a power strip, make sure you are connecting the green wire to a greenish colored screw on the outlet. The gold screw is for hot (Zap  :o ) typically black wire and the silver screw is neutral (still has potential to carry a load) which is the white wire.

Yes I figured the green wires were the grounds too. Thanks for the info Matt, that could have been hari raising!  ::)

muell67, you say that you have the illumination source with yours, you just have to add 12v?

I have just received the same trackball but thought I had to add a little clip on LED or other light to get it to light up. Did yours come with a light? My ball is translucent, but I could not find any light source with it.
