Had the most AWESOME stuffing (I love stuffing of EVERY kind, except for some monstrosity a woman tried to pawn off....called it "moist" stuffing....I kept wanting to pick up a handful and WRING IT OUT!) the turkey...ok....I'll be frying one up tomorrow, and nothing compares to a fried turkey!  Sweet 'taters, little odd casserole

We watched "Elf" and then sat around talking, telling stories for about 5 hours!

Damn fine time!

My family had so much foood.... even for thanksgiving.  I had helped cook for almost 6 hours the day before.

We had antipasto (that was like 8 pounds haha), salad, 2 trays of baked ziti, mashed potatoes, candied yams, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, artichokes, stuffed mushrooms..... I think that's it.

Then for dessert we had some cannoli, coconut pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, apple and chocolate croisants, a Victory cake, and a handmade Ricotta cheesecake that turned out really good.

All of that was for 9 people.... and there is a TON left over.  I love Thanksgiving leftovers  ;D

Didn't go visit the folks?  Usually there's one of two reasons - they live too far and the trip is expensive or they passed on.  Whichever it is, I hope you enjoyed your thanksgiving, regardless.  I haven't had a White Castle burger in like 8 years, and now you've got me wanting one....but I can wipe that out with a better burger.

btw, like your insertion of Chief Wiggums whenever possible  :police:

pointdablame, does Little Italy come to your house for thanksgiving?  :o  When should I stop by for a plate?

Mmmm, White castle burgers... we used to call them sliders 'cause they were so greasy they'd just slide right down.

All the White Castles around here closed years ago.

The one I went to ages ago was in Illinois, when I lived there....just a block and a half from my house.  I remember the first sack I got.....I was kinda pissed!  I got it to go, and ordered 2, thinking they were like a McD's...figured the price was a special for some reason!

And whoever DIDN'T call 'em sliders was a dork  :D

So far, pointdablame gets the "Most varied menu" award

mmm now I want White Castle :)  They are definitely still around, at least here in Jersey.  I have one about 5 minutes from my house.

As for varied menu, I think its more like unnecessary menu ;)

We have dozens of them in St. Louis. There is one very close, which means I eat it too much, which sucks because it is really expensive to eat there, much higher than most other fast food joints.

I actually tend to eat a large percentage of my meals at either the $3.99 pizza buffet or the $4.99 chinese buffet. Barely costs more than cooking and is cheaper than fast food.

Hailed from Maryland, but left years ago.  Haven't had White Castle in at least 15 years.  But what I missed the most is the Little Tavern Shops.  Are they still going back there?

Hmm... Funny you should mention it...
Michigan had quite the ubrupt snow storm,  causing lots of winter driving headaches. I stayed at MSU till thursday morning, to avoid the stupid drivers.

Meanwhile, the storm had knocked down a tree, which took down powerlines to an entire neighborhood. Mine, in fact. Luckily, I wasn't in the subdivision where the tree landed. Not only did it have the power line infront of the drive, so was the massive tree, with no other exit. They were powerless, and unable to drive anywhere.
So, like any good family, we met up at Miejers, bought some cold cut turkey, and made sandwiches.
Luckily we hadn't planned a massive Thanksgiving meal. Probably screwed up some people's holiday plans, being without power for 20 hours.
Power was restored finally at 7 pm. I'm sure some of my neighbors had a very turkey-less thanksgiving!
I can try and take pictures of the havok, if anyone is interested.

We mooched off of friends. All the food, none of the cooking or cleanup. Then we could leave whenever we wanted!

Quote
Boxing Day is the Day after Christmas day (December 26th). All the stores are opened for BARGAINS, BARGAINS. Its actually originated in England in the middle of the nineteenth century under Queen Victoria.  It originated as a holiday for members of the merchant class to give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing, and/or money to trades people and servants. The gifts were an expression of gratitude similar to the bonuses many employers offer their employees today. These gifts, usually given in boxes, gave the holiday it's name, "Boxing Day".
Hey, thanks!  That's SO far from how it's been explained to me thus far!

Oh, and as for the Canada's cold, eh - I'm from WI, I get that all the time....I'm treated as if I live in Canada anyway.  The turkeys don't freeze until mid January here  ;D

For three people my mom decided to cook a 15lb turkey.  Needless to say, my fridge is crammed with leftovers from that.  Also had stuffing, mashed potatos/gravy, a parmasean broccoli casserole, and tons of veggies.  To top it off, Pumpkin Pie.  The rest of the day was spent watching tv (8 season of "Friends" thanksgiving episodes are always a pleasure to watch).

I had some chicken nuggets while watching some bad football games.  I thought my local high school team was playing on national tv.

Wife doesn't know how to cook so I had miniaturized turkey A.K.A chicken and a side of water.
