Need some opinions please, can someone please point me in the direction of a good/reliable online Virus Scan. My Symantec Norton AV just expired, and im about to do a reformat of my petitioned HD, soo was just wanting to make sure that everything was clean --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- a fresh re-install.
anyhelp would be greatly appreciated
cheers
Gav :)

ive always used PC-CILLIN and Panda.. both of their online scanners are good and together find just about everything..

AVG is free and recommended by some. i use it but i don't know how effective it is. i haven't had any viruii, but that could mean i've just been lucky...

I didn't think AV could expire. I know the definitions auto-update feature can expire, but it only takes a few seconds to do manual updates.

House Call from trend micro is a great free online virus checker!

Mine says it lasts 366 days. All I have to do is format though and reinstall and I'm good for another year! BTW it was DLed from a filesharing type program and I've never had a problem with it so if you want free and good virus protection it's possible if you don't mind bending the rules a bit...

I use AVG on everything. It's caught things Norton hasn't.

Word of warning on AVG, it misses ALOT of virii and claims some files are virii..
such as, when i was still in college, i wrote a VB app for RGB color picking.. AVG screamed virus.. wouldnt stop..

Dang, I have that new java virus. When I right click on the directory it is in and have AVG scan it, it finds it and tells me to run teh main AVG scanner. I do that and it doesn't find it. I run House Call and it tell me it can't do anything about it!
