Okay, I've been meaning to get to this for almost a year... this is going to be my first MAME cabinet and yes I'm starting big.
-
Okay, first up: Let's get decent video on that monitor from a PC. Unfortunately, I have to wait until those monitor cables arrive, which will probably be until after the Thanksgiving break. :-\
-
Isn't this cabinet JAMMA? Why didn't you get a J-PAC instead? A lot less wiring, and probably less complicated getting your monitor working.
-
Until we'd spoken offline, I didn't realize the Jpac actually will support more than the JAMMA standard 3 buttons... I'll have to give that one some thought.
-
After doing some research to the Model 2 hardware, you'll need to either completely rewire (which wouldn't be so bad, but you couldn't use the VF2 board anyore) or get a Model 2 --> JAMMA Adaptor. In one of your threads someone showed you a picture of one.
I did a brief Google search, and came up with nada, however. But someone, somewhere, must know something about it. Just not me.
-
I'd rather rewire, since I'm making a new control panel anyway. I can just put the old wiring/panel back later if I want to revert the cab.
-
your megalo cabinet is very different to the one I have, as for the Model 2 to JAMMA adaptor, have you looked at coinopexpress or cosmicco ?
-
Nope, don't need an adapter. I'm going to rewire.

Okay, this is really pissing me off. I've been trying to get this ArcadeVGA installed. I don't have the monitor cables yet so I'm trying to do it via the composite output. I switched the Diamond video card with the ArcadeVGA and got no video signal and couldn't tell if it even booted, I suspect it did not because I didn't see much disk activity. I put the Diamd on tond back in and it booted fine so I followed Dynagod's advice and removed the Diamond drivers before switching again. Same result with the ArcadeVGA.
Could it be that you cannot use the composite until the ArcadeVGA drivers are installed? I don't have anything needing to be saved on that drive so I could easily just blow it away and reinstall windows. Would that be the next step, or am I stuck until I have the monitor cables?
-
Chad, I believe you are right and it won't boot composite till drivers are loaded.
Load Drivers
Switch to Composite as primary display
reboot......

Thanks for the info... I can't get the drivers loaded, obviously, until I have the rgb cables in hand. :-\

couldnt hurt to throw a line at andy at ultimarc. im sure he gets bombarded everyday by questions, but im sure he'd get back to you with any wisdom he can offer.
-
It's no major rush... I'm just waiting on the RGB cables I ordered. If I were in that much of a hurry I have a spare 5 BNC VGA cable I could use. All i'd have to do is connect the two sync lines to get a combined sync, yes?
