Title: Bartop PC/monitor
Post by: Trimoor on November 24, 2004, 01:22:52 am
I came across this one day, and thought it might be good for a bartop project.
http://www.linux-hacker.net/imod/imod.html

It was originally a dedecated internet machine that the manufacturer sold below cost, hoping that people would buy their ISP.  (kinda like the xbox)
It's incredibly easy to hack into a normal PC.

180MHz CPU (upgradeable)
32MB Dram (upgradeable)
--10" color LCD (800x600)--
Built in IDE connector (HDD not included)
16MB internal flash drive
Fast bootup BIOS

As a PC, it's pretty dismal, but it would make a great MAME computer.
Or you can just use it as
Oh yeah, you can get it on ebay for less than $100!!

Anyone tried this?

Ah, the I-Opener.  Haven't seen this since the last time I went to my best friends house (http://www.tardhaus.com).  They use them as 'net kisosks around their place.

I *should* have gotten a couple back when they were introduced.  Who couldn't beat the deal for $35 for a computer w/sound AND an LCD?  Have to hack in a hard drive, but so what?
