Does your free webstats program allow you to see the refferer?

 Example (http://www.seacloak.com/Samples/referrerstats.html)

Is this the sort of stat you are looking for?

I don't know of any tools but I did see that www.bbspot.com linked your site in their daily links on Nov 23.  Might be where a good majority of your traffic came from.

Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.screenshotarchive.com%2F&btnG=Google+Search)

Alta Vista (http://www.altavista.com/web/results?itag=wrx&q=link%3Awww.screenshotarchive.com&kgs=1&kls=0)

As many of you probably know I run the www.screenshotarchive.com website.  In the last few days the site has been hammered, with approximately 40x the normal number of visitors in a day.  As a result my bandwidth has been exceeded again,  :(

I use webstat to get certain free stats about visitors to the site, but I was wondering if there is a better way to see who has been linking to my site?  I'm just interested in why there was a sudden leap in visitors??  I'd like to know if it is worth upping my monthly bandwidth or going to another provider.

My bandwidth for the Mame32 archive (http://mame.joymonkey.com/mame32) was going crazy there for a while, I found a good free script at Stadtaus.com called Download Center Lite (http://stadtaus.com/en/php_scripts/download_center_lite). It creates a log of every file that downloads so you know where the hits are coming from, and it restricts all downloads to my domain, so any page thats not on joymonkey.com can't link to my files. It also hides the actual location of the files, making them pretty much impossible to leech.

I haven't had much experience with scripts like this, but it was pretty easy to set up. It does add the text "stadtaus.com" to all of the files, but hey- it's free.

Edit: I also changed to a better host, I went with Globat.com (http://affiliates.globat.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=joymonkey) and they've been great so far. Their standard package gives you 2.5gb of space and 75gb of bandwidth for $8 a month.

lol

I read your post and then clicked on the link.

Posting a link to your web page isn't going to help your bandwidth problem.

Look around the admin pages for your website, or email the people hosting your site, they might be giving you that service already.
