My vote goes for those HP picture ads. I love them!
those are the only ones where I cant guess how they're done. this probably uses the "camera magic" of stopping the tape and replacing with a photo. but its so stylish

My vote would have to go to the nextel commercial with the two guys dancing to Salt and Peppa
Cracks me up everytime.

THAT one rocks!
I also love the Paytpn Manning "megafan" ad. Manning's a really funny guy....

The greatest ads on tv? Are you talking currently running ads or of all time? If you mean all time then I vote for any of the Stan Freberg ads (Lone Ranger Pizza Rolls, etc.).

How about those BMW ads. Not really ads but 10 minute films made by hollywood directors, with big name actors and BMW cars. My favourite is the one with James Brown and Gary Oldman as the Devil whis is called Beat the Devil.
The series is called 'The Hire' and there's 8 of them. Link below to IMDB.

Oh I forgot about Die another day. Longest ad in history. ;D

They are actually amazingly easy to do. Just freezing one frame of the video, and them motion tracking that still frame to a "frame" that a person is holding. The hardest part is matching the highlights/shadows as the "frame" is moved around. Everything is done on the computer after it's shot.
