The prodigy has a plate and is installed on top of (or slightly sunk into) the cp. But how is the regular omni-stick mounted?
It appears that it's mounted from the bottom, but unlike other joysticks, it doesn't have the "washer" disc that usually fits around the stick and over the hole in the CP; it's got a rubber-boot instead. This is like the prodigy, but with the prodigy, the rubber boot is on top of a mounting plate that fits on top of the CP.
So how do you mount the basic Omnistick on a wooden CP? Do you have to rout-out the underneath of a wooden CP and/or use a metal one?
Also, is there any place to buy the ms.pac/galaga reunion stick except directly from Happ?
Thanks

The best way, without a top plate or metal CP, is to recess for the dome from the underside of the CP. You don't need a huge hole for the stick because of the short throw, so make it only as large as necessary. It will still look pretty good as long as you don't have bare wood in the hole and don't worry about dust, they are sealed pretty well.
But the the cleanest install is, at least for now, with a mounting plate or metal panel.

Best method is with RandyT's mounting plate, however, I dug through my notes and found the following in a previous post by snowbird:
I mounted my STC 500 sticks on a 3/4" wood panel and they look great! As noted earlier on this forum, the STC 500 joysticks are designed for metal panel mounting, but they can be mounted on wood panel fairly easily:
- Drill a 1 3/4" hole 1/4" to 1/2" deep from the bottom of the panel with a Forstner bit (be careful not to drill through the panel).
- Drill a second concentric hole 1" or 1 1/8" diameter through the panel.
- Those 2 holes should create perfect a cavity for you to mount the STC 500 from the bottom (you have to remove the handle).
