On a related topic, I tried to set up my dual strike on an XP pro machine (at work) and while it recognized the controller and it was available in the control panel, the microsoft software wouldn't install under XP. I mean the software that lets you assign keystokes to the buttons. This ability is essential for Mame use. Is there some work around? Does it work under XP home?

I am using XP home edition with a dual strike. The config software did install properly, but it has a few bugs. The only real problem is that when you enter keystrokes, some of the keys show up as weird wingdings. The key assignments still work properly, you just won't be able to verify them graphically in the setup.
If you can't get the installer to run, try having it run in Win 98 compatibilty mode. You do this by right clicking on the setup icon, clicking "properties", click the "compatibility" tab and select Windows 98 compatibilty mode. You might have to copy the install files to your hard drive so you can uncheck "read only" in order to change the preferences.
Oh, BTW, since MS isn't making the DS anymore, I doubt they will bother with a patch, so if my workaround doesn't work, you might be stuck.
