Title: Interesting ebay item ?
Post by: Cave on November 18, 2004, 02:51:48 pm
Anyone seen one of these before, looks like mame and arcadeos but i've never seen something so compact before.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3945&item=6131596124&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3945&item=6131596124&rd=1)

I sure there is some missleading info going on here what with high shipping ect..

Oh, thats a real board allright. Those are very common in china and taiwan, and I can get them if I want them, but they are pricey.

They are mame and arcadeOS based, they boot QUICK, and have a few of the games that aren't in regular Mame, like Metal Slug 5.

The shipping is likely that high because the seller is actually selling the entire game, cabinet and all. I followed his web links.

Metal Slug 5 huh? Do you know of the likelyhood of it ever being MAME'd?

It has been mamed (most neogeo games are mamed since they all run on the same hardware)
Its just not available for release for the general public....

There are some non official builds that include this (and others)
(not sure if it was included in one of the old mame builds and taken out recently).

There are reasons it hasn't been released for one it's still making a truckload of money for the manufacturer and the arcades.
DON'T GO THERE, mame is for "retro" gaming not for taking money out of the pockets of struggling businesses ( or any business for that matter ).

(I wont ask for rom links on the board, thats against the rules - but a PM would be nice ) ;)

Oh, and to be more exact I DO know where to buy that board (don't bother, they cost WAY TOO MUCH), but I have no idea where to get the hacked mames with the newer games. Frankly I could care less about them.

I am really surprised those hacked versions aren't more common though, you would THINK that they would get posted to the mame binaries group daily.

Hmm, if its still in the arcades, thats why they would be the price they are I guess Paige. I found a copy of Metal slug 4 in the binaries, but havn't gotten found to trying it yet, prob dont work.

Anyway, this is off topic to this thread, sorry

From the auction: "PACKAGE DOES NOT INCLUDE ARCADE CABINET"

Dang, that stuff looks pretty neat. I bet the guy is shipping direct from Japan or China, that is why it is so expensive. It would be pointless otherwise. How does the guy that created arcadeos feel about all this? I'd be PISSED!

The guys that created ArcadeOS was pissed. So pissed that he dropped out of the emulation scene (he also did the Vantage Emulator) and wants nothing to do with this again.
