playstation question! Plz email me if u knows how the standard playstation controller hookup on the console works (ie which pin is ground, up, down, that kind of thing)

The playstation controller and most other console controllers have internal circuitry that encodes the many buttons into fewer lines. Here is the info for the PSX controller. You have to hack the insides of an existing controller to attach arcade controls using one of these controllers.

Unless you are educated in programming pic microprocessors, you don't want to get into that level of detail. Its very easy to buy a cheap/used controller, crack it open and just solder to ground based button contacts.
Obviously the PSX pads are not comaptiable with most PS2 games which require analog input. For that you will need to hack a more expensive PS2 analog pad (which is a bit more difficult).

anyone know a website that shows you how to hack a PS2 control pad? I also would like to hack an X-Box pad too?
