I'm buying a near-new coin door for 30 +22 shipping which includes mechs (but I'll have to add my own locks, can anyone give me the Happs link to which ones I would need for a standard over/under I believe, and I'll need to set up my own lighting, fun so it's no prob) and I couldn't be more excited.
Anyway here's some questions for discussion.
How much of a difference in authenticity did a coin door add to your machine?
Do you actually try to use your coin door or just stick a game on free play/use a coin button?
What kind of coins does your machine take?
What kind of coins do you remember mostly using in your arcade days? Born of 1982 I mostly found myself using coins but will leave mine as a quarter machine until I can afford multi-coin (quarter/token) mechs.
And finally, what color are your reject buttons?

Let see.
I have 20ish games, and they all have coin doors, except for the ones that take the coins on the panel.
About 12 of those machines have the classic "push to reject" buttons, and 11 of them are red, and the other has school bus yellow ones.
Most of my machines take quarters, one takes tokens, one takes dimes, one takes dollar coins, and one that I recently traded (but may be getting back again) takes 100 Yen coins.
It was usually tokens that I remember, but I am certainly NOT equipping 15+ games with token mechs, that would cost a fortune.
I usually try to keep my games on free play though.

For coin door locks, get them here (http://www.pealefamily.net/cgi-bin/closedShop/Item.pl?action=ShowItem&id=15) (hope you don't mind the direct link Peale).
As for token/quarter mechs, get these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13718&item=6131671185&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW). They are the easiest to adjust for both tokens and quarters. Just follow these instructions (http://www.miavio.com/HappILMech.htm) (thank JoyMonkey for the link).
