Title: Bezels
Post by: DaemonCollector on November 14, 2004, 03:34:32 pm
I searched around and couldn't find too much...I have a 25" Arcade monitor and need to get a bezel, the Happs 25" plastic bezel, is it trimmable to the proper OD from my cab? If not, where could I get one?

Definately trimmable.  Use a sharp utility knife and a well-secured straightedge.  I've used their 27" and 19" bezels and have had to trim every one.

I'm gonna have to give this a try tommarow...just worried about how I'm gonna cut the curves...

Glad to point you in the right direction, versapak.  Drop Tailgunner a PM and tell him as well, he's the one who did the hard work  :)

DC, just make sure you've got a sharp new X-acto blade or new razor blade.  Mark a line for your cut, and then just follow it.   If you don't have something large and bendy to make the curve to mark your line, buy two sheets of the stuff Tailgunner uses and wedge it between two books until you get the curve you want.  The sharp blade is the most important thing, though.  It'll give you a nice clean cut so you won't have to press so hard, making it easier to follow your line.  Mebbe post YOUR results in Tailgunner's thread to show more examples for others to realize they can do it too.

If you don't want to make a bezel you can often go without one if you used smoked glass or smoked plexi.

This is post 100,000.

A sharp knife and a steady hand manage quite nicely. You'll likely get a better result if you make your cuts using two or three passes. I generally make a scoring cut first using minimal pressure as it's much easier to control the knife when you're not bearing down on it.

Don't wanna use smoked plexi so I can place instruction cards on the backside of the glass
