So I got my new Hantarex Polo 2 28 inch. But now, how to power it ? Its got a 3 pin molex connector with it that plugs straight into the board, and I got 3 metal pins with crimp connections I presume for a certain guage power wire. So whats the deal ? Do I just rip open a kettle lead and wire it in ? Or do I know need a special bit of kit ? Forgive my ignorance, any tutorials would be a great help. I've searched the board but havent found much.
Cheers

I'm not sure what a kettle lead is, so I can't comment on that.
Regarding powering it, and whether it needs an isolation transformer or not, I'll say this: it won't harm your monitor in anyway to use one, even if it doesn't need one.
Since you're in the UK, likely you'll need a stepdown isolation transformer 240v ---> 120v, unless this monitor has been designed for the UK current.
Can you post a picture of the board, to give an idea what we're looking at? Esp. the Molex connection.

I think this is your beastie?

Nice one, so I just need a PSU from there to do the job ?
-
You shouldn't need a PSU. The PSU is to supply power to the PCB. The monitor should have one built in.
However, you likely need an isolation transformer.
-
hmm, I thought only older monitors needed these. So what do I use to get power to the monitor then ? Its got a 3 pin plastic connector on the board and came with another 3 pin connector which clicks into it but obviously no wiring yet.

Forgive the shoddy pictures I only have the camera on my cell phone until tomorrow when I will take some more. These pics show the adapter I got with the monitor which incidently is ready for 240v, bought in the UK. The white adapter plugs into the board at the back of the tube, the 3 metal prongs snap off of this bar and go in the white plug. They all have crimp style ends I'm guessing for when I thread the wire in.,
Thanks for all the help.

Cant seem to get the pics to upload, the best way I can describe the connector is almost identical to an atx style connector you would plus into a hard rive or CDrom drive.

Where's the pictures of the monitor?
Does this connector match to anything currently attached to the monitor?

There up now. Yes the white connector in 189 plugs into the white connector in pic 191. The connector in pic 191 which is on the board of the monitor is labelled left to right as L (live?) then ground symbol in the middle, then N (Neutral?) Can I just use any old mains lead, ie one from a PC and hack it open and connect straight in ?
Thanks for your patience.

That would depend on whether this monitor needs an isolation transformer or not. If it doesn't, then yes you can use a PC cord. If it does, you MUST use it, or your monitor WILL blow.

I just spoken to the tech support at Brentelectronic (Namco) and the tech guy has confirmed that I dont need an isolation transformer and I can wire it straight in, as long as I make use of the earth in the middle. Just need something with a switch on it now.
Got my ArcadeVGA today aswell so almost ready to go !
Thanks for all your help and patience.

Wish I'd seen this earlier as I could have saved you all the trouble. The new Hantarex polo monitors will wire straight into the mains with no transformer. Buy a length of electrical wire, wire a Plug to one end, the molex plug to the other and away you go.
Just be sure to get the correct electrical wire.
If still unsure then why not phone Hantarex directly.

Nice one, what wire is best then ? I was just gonna hack the 3 pin plug off a PC power lead and wire it in to the molex connector. Any ideas what I can use as a switch or when I can get one ?
-
Why do you need a switch? Surely you can just plug it into the power supply you'll have in the cab. Then, when the cab is off the monitor is off.
Perhaps you'd like to explain the requirement for the switch.

I realised that last night! Sorry, brain not in gear ! I've managed to aqquire a 6 way strip with Surge protection etc so I was gonna use that and just have that on and off. I've spoken with Brent Electronics today and they are going to wire up the molex connector especially for me with mains cable and I'm going to pick it up later, so I should have power tonight ! I cant recommend them highly enough., very helpful.
