I spent a bit of time generating a "Exact" 3d model and plans of a pacman cabinet. Plans include all the wooden parts, with associated router cuts, drill holes, and basic dimensions.
Taken from a painfully converted and now deceased pac cabinet.

Im always on the look out for cab dimentions. Gives me ideas with my building. The more exact the dimentions, the better. So, count 1 for someone taking interest . . .
-
Since you put all the work into it please send them to me, I'll make use of them someday just not right now lol but it'd definately be nice to have them on file.
-
I'd take them, looking to build. Also make sure Jakobud gets them too!
-
Thanks for the contribution.
I'd be interested in a copy of them as well...
Must..build..new..cab
Thanks!
-
I'd definatly be interested in plans as well. I will eventually be building a Pac cabinet as well.
-
Same here, would save me alot of work.
sac

add me to the list as a pac cab is next on my list of things i want to build.

-
add me to the list....I'm very interested....planning them to be one of my future projects
-
If you need a place to post them, I can host them.
-
me too! Please add me to the list
-
me 3!
feel free to shoot them over.
what 3 program did you use? i'm using some older software called truespace3d. eventually i'll open up this maya demo and get my hands dirty.

here's 2 i did.. actually working on a mini pac now so your model/plans would help.
i'll take it in dxf or obj without textures if you have it.

Me 26. Or whatever number we're on. ;)
-
I'd love a set too.... :D
-
I generated the 3d models (and assemblies) in solid edge.
I will create flat 2d dimensioned files for the individual parts, and post them later this week.
:)
-
any word on those plans yet?
-
Heheh, yeah, two whole sentences of words. Right above yours. ;)

Heh heh, check the dates. I posted FIVE days later. And there still not posted. Heh, Heh . .

Hehe... As usual, running "slightly" behind schedule.
I will try to finish the conversion tonight...
Just got back from the wife's 10 year reunion...
-
No worrys - I was just checking back on this, many thanks.
Now where did I put that tee pee for DrewKaree's bung hole ??? BOING heh heh . . .
-
I hope I'm doing this correctly.
I'm interested in these plans, as the GF, or my Mom woudl love a pac cabinet.
*BUMP*

Hmmmmmm . . .

I've discovered something strange..
Does anyone else have a pac upright they can grab 2 measurements from?
I took basic measurements of the cabinet before knocking it apart to get all the fine details, but now it seems as though the cabinet gets skinnier (left to right) as it goes up. ???
-
Try PM'ing Paige. He seems to be a guy with a lot of cabs, lucky bloke.
Hope this helps :)
-
I have one. What measurements do you need?

Let's see if I can describe it...
I need 2 measurements. The firs one is the distance between the side panels from left to right at the bottom of the coin door panel,
and the distance between the side panels at the marquee.
Thanks saint!
-
If you are interested in two measurements I have one also

5 Day *BUMP*
HEI!

Where, oh where have you gone Used Electronics?
I must build pac-man

Mission,
I know man, not trying to sound impatient or anything.
It's just my friendly way of keeping this topic right at the top.

I still need those 2 measurements to finish up the plans.
Width of cabinet at the bottom, and width at the top.I have a strange suspicion it tapers slightly, but I am not 100%.
-
Have you contacted Saint (da man) or spocktwin as yet? They have both offered to obtain the two measurements for you as they have the cabinet in question.
Hope this helps.
-
Sorry, I lost track of this thread until now. I'll measure when I get home this evening :)
--- saint
-
Please add me to the list also. I would enjoy this!
-
As well as me. TIA
-
Why not...
-
As soon as those measurements come through, they should be available shortly thereafter.
-
I was going to suprise you with measurements from my cab, but I'll be damned if I can find even ONE of my five tape measures.
I know where one is, for sure: my wife's car. She's @ work.
-
Between the left and right panels at marquee height, 23 1/8" . Between the left and right panels at coin door height, 23 1/16" . Obviously a tiny bit of play on my cabinet. These widths are from inner edge to inner edge, and do not include the width of the panels themselves.

-
Thanks Saint,
At least that answers my question. Seems as though there was a bit of "play" throughout the cabinets. I will clena that up in my plans, and get them posted.
:)
-
So, usedelectronics, how those plans coming along? Just thought I would ask.
Your prob. busy with xmas and all, just wondering how they are coming along.
All the best.
-
Just a "teaser".... :P
These are the 4 pieces that make up the coin door box.

hehe... Here's a little more then!

they look to be coming along nicely. Pac Man yellow too, cool.
-
how's it coming?
*bump

They're done!
Before I release them, A friend of mine with a CNC router is going to make me a cabinet using the plans.
That way I'll know they are accurate, and free of errors...
:)
-
And I think we all want that!
Oh, and pictures of course!
-
I must say.. Recreating origional cabinets is a pain!
It's not so bad if your just using the origional cab as a router template to make a copy, but when your actually making prints...Sheesh.
Here's my "creative" method used to measure and duplicate the odd shaped side panels:
I used the 1" X 1" Grid to accurately determine the end points of the various arcs, and then used simple geometry to calculate the exact radius of the arcs.
This by far was the most difficult part of the entire cabinet.

:-\
It just seemed like he changed the plans according to how the built cabinet turns out...
I just wanted to know if they are ready to post...
:(
-
To Clarify:
Yes, the plans are "done, and readyto release"
However, before doing so.. I am having a prototype cabinet built from the plans to confirm the accuracy of the plans.
(I.E. Make sure all the curves/router slots/dimensions match the origional cabinet exactly.)
Sorry for the delay!

Why didn't you just look at my plans I did for Pacman? I already determined the closest approximation of the arcs I could get like a year ago.
-
I did look at your plans prior to going through all this trouble...
However the measurements didn't match up to the cabinet I have here. So I decided to do it myself, seeing as I had dimensioned every other piece already.
-
Well,
I spent the day at my buddies woodworking shop, and the results were great!
Here's the "toy" used during the day:
And here's part of the results:
(Note the new panel is leaning back slightly, which makes it look a bit shorter)

-
Good news! The plans sem to be just fine. There was a small problem with the initial set, but the fixes have been done. I'll post a picture of the complete cabinet once I get back by the woodshop. ;D
-
Wow, looks good. Would be great to have one of those cnc routers, you could make anything!
Any chance of a release date any time soon?
These must be the most detailed plans in existance.
-
Yeah! These plans, would they go right into a CNC machine?
-
Yeah! These plans, would they go right into a CNC machine?
"almost"...
The origional cabinet has a couple cuts that can not be recreated by a standard 3 axis CNC. (I.E. Angled top and upper rear panel cuts, and the angled cuts on the intersection of the monitor hood panels.)
My initial plan was just to release dimensioned flat drawings produced from the 3d plans, but I suppose I could also include the electronic files that can be dropped into a CNC....
-
Any updates on those plans?
-
Anything yet?????
-
I'm really sorry guys..
The Byrdo Joystick kit groupbuy has been consuming most of my free time.
Is anyone willing to convert 3d models into dimensioned flats??
That's the only hold up currently.
-
Dude were are theses plans, are they ever going to materialize.
-
I'd be interested. Sounds like fun.
-
WAKA WAKA
I can't wait...
If these had been ready about 5 months ago, I wouldn't have M@MED a Pac Man cabinet, but I did save it from goin' to the dump.
