Title: WG 4903 Problem.
Post by: dabone on November 13, 2004, 11:19:46 pm
Just picked a cab with a 4903 monitor.

The monitor has high voltage, but has a solid yellow (???) pic.
Adjusting the flyback voltage only affects the screen a bit.
(i.e. I can't get it to shutoff completely).

Does this sound like a tube?

(I've got 5 g07 in the house, and not a single other wg, So I can't try the chassis on a different tube.)

Later,

The 4900 series is well known for many bad solder joints and sometimes a cracked neckboard.  Check that first. Then try a capkit. There could be a shorted color driver transistor on the neckboard. The tube might have a problem, but then again, someone may have 'played' with the color trimpots on the neckboard too.
