ok here we go. before i start i just want to say i did do a search for the info but i honestly dont know much about monitors so i really didn't find what i was looking for. Anyway,i was under the assumption that the d9200 was a plug and play deal. Well i built a new 4 player cabinet and i am completly done exept installing the computer. The guy i am building it for got me the computer yesterday. I plug in the computer and it looks good. I have it set at 640x480. I installed mame32v88 with the 87 romset. When i try to play a game it says "out of range". I know, i know, i've been around long enough not to be asking noob questions but i've never used one of these monitors before. Do i need to use the arcadevga card even though i have the monitor set to vga mode? The guy that is buying it wants windows to look as good as the games so i need to use the vga mode, right? I have used standard arcade monitors and the arcadevga card and they work great as long as you dont use windows. This guy wants to use windows alot on this machine so what do i need to do?
HELP!!!!!

you need the arcadevga if you want to use actual arcade resolutions. Otherwise in Mame32 go to the default game options and under the advanced tab set the resolution to 640x480 and check stretch using hardware.

thank you!!! now at least he can play the games. is there a way to have the games in the right resalution and still be able see windows the way it should be?

you could get an arcadevga and use the d9200 tool. Or you could use powerstrip, but I'm no expert on that. I think there are some video cards that work with advmame and windows as well.

so with an arcadevga and the d9200 tool do i use the vga input on the monitor or do i use the cga input. i am thinking it would be the cga but i want to make sure.

I can verify that with the D9200 and the AVGA card, both windows and mame games look great at thier native resolution. I actually have mine set at 800x600 and then run the games at thier respective resolutions.
