Title: YABBC Tag problem when creating a post
Post by: mmmPeanutButter on November 13, 2004, 11:30:57 am
Before when I woud type a post, I would type the whole thing and go back and add the hyperlinks, bolb, and underline as I needed.

I would highlight the "underline" (for example) and then click the underline button.  This would put the proper tags on either side of the highlighted word.

It doesn't do it anymore.  The tag just shows up at the end.

I hope this can get fixed.

Thanks.

I'll bet you're using Firefox, aren't you?  In Internet Explorer you can still highlight the word, tag it up and have the selected word tagged.  But in Firefox it does always place it at the end, no matter what.

Oh well, a small price to pay for a much better browser.

That would be my guess as well.

Yea, I guess that's it.  If I knew anything about how this "creating a post" thing worked on a programming level, I would e-mail the Firefox people to let them know.  But I don't.

I love firefox.

This is how firefox and other mozilla based browsers are handling the javascript behind the BBC tagging feature. When we upgrade the forum software sometime soon, I believe I have a fix in place that will make this work again for those browsers. I too have the same issue, and I want it to go away ;)

When we upgrade the forum software sometime soon...

Eh?  Are we migrating to Simple Machines Forum?

Yes.

I've beaten RC2 up pretty good with test databases and the forum database. Things appear to run smooth and with little issues (some cosmetic which will be corrected upon launch). RC2 is the last release prior to final gold of the SMF.

Can we have the classic YABBSE skin?  I've grown rather attached to it.
