Title: Needed: USB Cable for OptiPac
Post by: electricd on November 12, 2004, 10:39:23 pm
Anyone have a USB interface cable for the OptiPac they could part with.  I only have the serial cable, and would like to try the USB interface to see if it might help with my dreaded ShuffleShot problems.  Thanks in advance!

Sorry.... don't know what problems you're having with ShuffleShot, but would like to know.  I have a serial OptiPac myself and can't get the puck to release... doesn't matter how hard I spin the TrackBall.  If I use the mouse I have no problems.

Maybe I'm just missing something.

No I think it is different because it is serial on one end and usb on the other.  I dont think the IPAC has a serial header on its board, so i assume it is a different cable.  Thanks for the offer though!

ipac has serial one end... it may be a different pin layout though...

Oh well, I sure wasn't aware of that.  My guess is that its the same cable, but no way to know without asking Andy I guess, unless somebody here knows?  I would give it a try if you can stick it in an envelope and mail it the ol' 37 cent way and if it doesnt work I will send it back promptly?

I've got a ton of USB cables.  But I gotta ask, why don't you just go to the store and pick one up?

Aparently it is a serial on one end and USB on the other.  Otherwise I would use a standard cable! :)  The optipac only has serial headers, but is supposed to allow for a usb hookup, so I am looking for that converter/cable that originally shipped with those units.

A quick check to Ultimarc's site shows he is selling separate cables, one for the Ipac/Jpac and one set for the Optipac.  This leads me to believe that the cables are actually different for the 2 boards, so I don't think the serial/usb cable for the Ipac will work with the Optipac.  Thanks anyway though.
