My mame/nesticle cabinent is dead after 3 years of unending fun (RIP). Well actually the TV i put in it is dead, something shrted out now it wont turn on... Does anybody know what i could do to fix it? I dont know anything about TVs do they have fuses or does shorting it just fry the whole thing? Will I have to replace it that would be such a pain, i had to build custom mounts for the tube, idoubt their universal... This really sucks.. Thanks for any advice.

Actually another tv with the same size tube will mount up EXACTLY.
I generally don't bother trying to repair TVs that won't turn on, although you might want to at least check and see if it has an onboard fuse, and check the condition of it.
Also, box up the tube and save it for later use with an 8-liners chassis.

I must agree. It would be best to find the exact same tv and use it. Surely someone on Ebay or some online vendor would have it. TV repair is just too expensive to be worth the $$.

Oh, he won't need the exact same model, just another set with the same size tube. It will have the mounting eyes in the same place.

Well I would just skip the middle part about replacing the TV and saving the tube for an 8-liners chassis. Why not just get the 8-liners chassis now?

thanks for the advise, i guess i'll just go get another tv... what a pain. Before I do that though I want to check the onboard fuse but dont know what to look for. I know that sounds stupid, but like I said I know nothing about tvs except to try and not electrocute myself.

Well, it sounds like the TV is already decased, right? If so, look back there and see if there is a fuse, and see if it is blown.
He might not want to buy an arcadevga too, which is why I said just save the tube for an 8-liners chassis later. Always save tubes, cause you might be able to buy the sweetest game with no monitor for dirt cheap.

I like being able to run windows on my tv (s-video) becasue sometimes I like playing windows based emulaters; gameboy advance and jnes. Also it freaks me out to spend to much time playing tubes and tv boards i don't wanna get shocked.

I took the HV out of a vector monitor that was ON!
Note to everyone, the little spring on a Vectorbeam monitor MUST be hooked up. ;D

Well ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- happens and the only thing you can do is learn from your mistakes and make sure that you can remove you tv or monitor with out having to rip it all apart :'(the only reason i'm saying this is because i already went though it!! I shorted out my tv before i even turn the game on,isn't that a >:( >:( >:( >:(
