Title: Anyone load games through a network?
Post by: Hoagie_one on November 10, 2004, 04:41:17 pm
I was wondering if anyone loaded games into thier cab or for that matter just played games on their computer but kept the games on an off computer storage accesssed through a network.

I'm contemplating some new ideas and im wondering if the load times are doable

Dont know about pcs but linking an xbox through the netwok works a charm so i guess load times shouldnt be a problem.

most roms are small enuf that networking shouldnt be a problem , but i wouldnt be putting any daphne disks or psx/dc images on a network.

I load games through a network.  I use mame32 on 3 different computers and as long as you change the rom directory in mame32, it is seamless.  I was running a 10mbps network and now I am running a 100mbps and I have noticed no difference.  Its a good way to go if you can only afford to use a few gig  of storage on your network and want to play at a few different computers.

I run a network with one PC storing all of the roms for Mame32. I have no problems running it on any of the machines.
