Does anyone know of a good free program that will let me extract video from dvds into an .avi file. I do not need sound and it does not have to be very high res.
I am asking because I want to some Star Wars photo mosaics for possible use as side art.
Thanks a lot.

http://www.videohelp.com/ has all kinds of downloadable programs for all kinds of ripping/conversion type things along with instructions.
That's a cool idea, btw.

everything you ever need to know about DVD ripping/encoding/burning/etc is on that site.

keep in mind that dvd's are mpegs .. if you want to make an avi you will need to re-encode the video , you may be better off seeing if you can work with the mpegs.

You will lose a buttload of quality if you convert, better leaving it unconverted. Of course I also have the Star Wars episode II vob files on my hard drive!

I think that I need them to be avi. I know I will loose quality but these pictures are going to be very small.
I will check out the links, thanks!
