Title: Need information/instructions on building custom Mame arcade joystick

Hi all,
I'm a newbie (man I hate bein a newbie).  Anyhow, I'm totally obsessed with building a mame cabinet, unfortunately I can't afford it just yet, so I thought I would start out building my own custom controller.  
Can anyone suggest websites, etc.. that show you step by step how to make controllers and wire them to work with a pc?  I need all the info I can get.  I'll be using the controller with Mame32 and my pc.  
I also need advice on what to include on my controller...I want to play all the mame arcade classics so what do you recommend I include?  Trackball?  Flight stick?  or just the standard joystick and buttons?  I want the ultimage universal stick!!!  Thanks!

Read the articles linked in the menu to the left there...
And read the stickies in this forum...
And then use the Search feature...

Then come to us with the bits and pieces you still don't understand.
