Anyone have pics or paint "masterpieces" laying around of control panel ideas that don't have a joystick? I'm thinking trackball and spinner with some buttons scattered around. I don't want any joysticks on it, so for the first time, I need to come up with ways to fill the extra space. ;)
Is there any custom controls/layouts I should be thinking about?

A combo of Asteroids, Missile Command, and Tempest would all probably combine into a very full (and useful) no joystick CPO.
**edit** Too many big images.

In my opinion, all the really cool games use trackballs and spinners. I've got modular control panels, and I use the trackballs way more that joysticks.
With all that extra space you could squeeze 2 or three trackballs on there. If you made a frankenpanel, perhaps you'd be ready for 4 player warlords!
How many controls are you planning for?

Don't forget "Toobin'". ^_^

I have a 4 spinner cab at home.
Looks like this.

You could have size appropriate trackballs! 4.5" for Missile Command, 3" for Millipede, and 2.25" for Centepede.
Make sure to get one of those crazy roller things Oscar's making... and one of each of his spinners...
Driving controls?

I'm a 2-player kind of guy. No big panels here. I thought about trying two trackballs, but I don't think it would be worth it in my case. I don't really play anything other than Marble Madness where it would be useful. Here's what I'm thinking:
-----------------------------------
o sp o o o
o o TB o area for
o mouse
-----------------------------------
I do all my toobin' with a fighter layout. I love that game.
What game uses multiple spinners? (besides Paige's classic ;))
I'd go with driving controls, but besides off-road, all my racing is PC based. Nascar, Midtown, NFSU...
