Does anyone know where I can get an ACT LABS USB light gun for MAME? The manufacturer does not sell them any longer, and so far attempts to get them on ebay have failed. They do sell from time to time on ebay, but this seems to be rare. Is anyone willing to sell an extra one to me? Or does anyone have plans for "how to build"? Any pointers would be appreciated. // David (whynotpizza@hotmail.com)

i should have picked one up while I had the chance a long time ago. I checked recently (2 days ago) one went on ebay for 119 dollars...
they're pretty hard to get now :(
what a shame
-
oh yea... liksang has one 25 bucks check em out
virtual gun
-
I would not recommend the Virtual gun. I have it and I can not get it to work right,
-
well user incompetence isn't a reason not to buy something
that's like saying linux sucks because you don't know how to use it
LOL

Here's a review that includes the Virtual Gun. Maybe it will help.
Act Labs has also been hinting that they have a new light gun in the works.
Seems like you might want to wait for that.

Not user incompetence the thing is junk. it shoots all over the place. Do a search on Virtual gun and find me someone who has it working anywhere near a Act-labs.

dream, instead of being an arrogant ---meecrob---, perhaps you can enlighten him and all the rest of us how you got the gun to work just as good as the actlabs. ie: what os you used, what source, what driver, which fe, and which emu. just a thought........
-
i'm sorry about that
i'm just stating the facts man, just like howard does.
shouldn't be any probs here
-
hc may be a more than a little bit harsh on people, and has certain personality like that of fiberglass boxers BUT.......He has brought 100 fold the knowledge base, support and assistance to this message board then you. If you feel its ok to follow in his footsteps, you better do it in all ways. So lets hear your setup of the gun
-
oh now you demand from me like I owe you something?
hahahaha
go to the mameworld forums and do that kind of stuff
just because someone "contributes" doesn't give them an "---uvula--- pass"
now you see that howards behavior is uncalled for, just like mine
-
Well I guess I owe you an apology ;D
how do did you set it up are you getting the horz lines how about accuracy? Please provide info what software settings and what hardware. Share the wealth.

2.4ghz intel celeron

win98se
usb connection
thats it
plugged it in and played
works great
just calibrate it properly
-
I wonder since I am running XP that is the problem. I have a athlon 1800xp 1 gig ddr windows xp pro.
-
not sure, i've never tried it with xp
what mame version are you using
i'm using .69 (but i added a few games to it ;) )
-
I have concluded my test and the gun has worked for me as follows house of the Dead 2 PC game worked fine. mame32 latest version worked iffy shots off allittle. mame .87 no go. I have decided that this was not what I was looking for so I placed it on ebay for sale.
-
25 bucks is a littly hefty price for it when you can get a new one for the same man, just a heads up.
-
The gun is new I just got it a couple of days ago. Tried it and did not like it for my use. I am just trying to get what I paid for it back and who ever buys it does not have to wait three weeks for it to come from Hong Kong since I ship Priority Mail plus they save on the shipping.
-
i see your point, chances are you won't get that though... good luck
-
*sigh*
I somehow feel dumber after reading this thread
-
lol@ dumber
-
anybody have more information about act-labs working on a new light gun?
-
Hopefully Act-Labs realizes that there is still a demand for these guns and starts producing them soon. It would make a great Christmas gift. :D

Update from Act Labs
- The PC USB Light Gun has been retired. There is a chance the same product but in a different shell will be available in the next few months.
-
I'm almost positive I got one of these brand new, never used in a lot of stuff in a trade. Does anyone still need one? (Act Labs USB light gun). No idea what it's even worth, feel free to email me if you need it. (not the respond email under this userid, my home email is dougmansland@aol.com)
thanks

I wonder if they're planning to make the shells available to those who already have guns...
-
Yeah right....
They know we will buy new guns like the lemmings we are for their guns..
(I've got 2 myself, and if they come up with one that performs as well but looks more like a guncon, I'm all over it.)
