Title: Question for people using Keyboard Encoders / I-PAC
Post by: toilet on September 19, 2002, 09:00:25 am
I am curious, can people using keyboard encoders or I-PACs register 3 simultaneous button presses, 4 if you include controller motion? Do they have any restriction? I know generic PC keyboard BIOS' usually don't, but I've never known about the encoders.

Reason: An arcade in the city has one of the Ultimarc ULTRACADE things. For the life of me I could not get 3 button presses to register (SF2: Gief's lariat) while fighting another opponent. I assume they use an I-PAC.

Ultracade is made by Hyperware and is not related with ultimarc (AFAIK) http://www.ultracade.com/kit.html  Their page says the kit is Jamma, and I think there was some sort of three button limit in the Jamma standard.

The I-PAC will allow all keys to be pressed simultaneously (AFIAK).  I see nothing implying that hyperware is using an I-pac or J-pac, and I doubt they are, but I have no real knowledge on this, one way or the other.
