I emailed Scott from mamemarquees.com and was told that his cpo material is 10mm which is about 2/5". Is this stuff actually almost half an inch thick? I have a 2.25" trackball and would like a no bolts showing cp but with material that thick won't the trackball barely stick up from the panel? Has anyone used it with a recessed trackball installation successfully?

...
s'gotta be a typo...
-
I would have thought so too but a search showed somebody else on these forums posted that he was told by Scott 9mm. Does anyone actually have a cpo from MM that could post a pic or measure?
-
That's got to be a typo! With an overlay that thick why bother with a control panel top? And then it wouldn't be an overlay! Surely it's 1.0mm and not not 10.

Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, here is the email response...
"I only use one thickness, the laminate is 5mils and the Adhesive vinyl is
5Mils, so in total it is 10mils. Which is about the thickness of a
postercard.
Scott"
Scott did email me back very quickly as always so maybe he was in a hurry or I'm just reading it wrong.

10 mils and 10 millimeters are not the same thing.
10 mils is about a quarter of a milimeter.
A mil is a US measurement equal to 1/1000th of an inch. It isn't metric.

Ah, live and learn. Thanks a bunch Paige that makes much more sense.

We call that a 'thou'...never heard of a mil before...

US measurements are nuts. Of course, I like to hold with the old US saying...
"Stamp out the metric system...
We don't need no foreign Rulers"
;)
