Hi All.
I recently completed a MAME cabinet but I have run into some trouble with the display... I am running a 21" VGA "Pokie monitor" connected to a Geforce 2 MX400, this monitor boots fine but displays in mirrored as the monitor was originally built like this.
"I have no intention on putting a mirror in to solve this problem so thats out of the equation, due to size limitations"
I have used NVIDIA's Keystone to Flip the image and now the desktop and basic applications displays correctly. when the Mame32 emulator is executed the menu and rom list is the correct display but when the actual game is played it flips the display the wrong way around.
Im guessing that NVIDIA's Keystone doesnt work with 2D/3D applications.... as with Neogeo emu,, mame games etc...
Does anyone know a work around for this problem.......
Can the MAME apps be run thorugh DirectX??

MAME has options to flip / rotate the screen any way you want. These are probably on a menu somewhere in MAME32. If not, use regular MAME, with -flipx as a command line option.

If you are willing to open up the monitor then you can modify it back to stock display. You have to splice a few wires. It is pretty easy to do.

Skip past the special part about the g07 to the part about regular monitors.

You really want an answer, don't you?

While yes, the quickest way it to add the flip on the command line, the proper thing to do is simply reverse the yoke wires as needed. Depending on how it's flipped either flip the RED and BLUE arround or the GREEN and YELLOW.
Then you dont need to run any special drivers in windows or change your config file, and all computers connected to this monitor forever more will display correctly.
Note however: If this monitor is too new, and has a digitally controlled yoke (e.g. full on screen menus, and what looks to be a bunch of electronics attached around the yoke) then you may not be able to simply swap yoke wires as it's way too advanced to be that simple. (probably require desoldering and swapping ON the yoke)
But if that is the case, there MAY be a service menu option to simply change the orientation. Without pics it's hard to tell but those are my thoughts on the subject.

if you try the yoke flip make sure you first locate the correct wire pairs to swap. you can do his using a multimeter to measure the resistances between the wires. don't think you can assume wires will always be coloured as mentioned in previous post.

;) Hi ALL. Thanks heaps to you all that posted their suggestions. I took it on to switch the Horizontal wires on the yoke and what do u know...
Problem Solved.....
