Title: *Fresh problem* Dualshock2 modification
Post by: Marcos on November 03, 2004, 06:55:25 pm
Hi, im a new user, im really just searching for an answer/solution to a rather frustrating problem. This may belong in the controls sub forum.

Basically, I need to somehow make my PS2 think that the D-pad and left Analog stick have swapped around. Simple as that, but i've no idea if this is impossible etc.

Input would be helpful as you guys seem to know much on this subject :)

Well, i've taken one step:

I can see the pins, seems like a weak way to connect but has worked for years. Now i dont really know what to look for or how to test it

Hrmm...  I'm not sure if that would be possible.  I don't think it can be done, but I may be wrong.   ???

Im guessing the analog signal and dpad signal are completely different?

I mean, i probably wouldnt mind losing the left analog at all, may become a problem in the game though.

Im thinking ahead, if this fails, i may have to pay someone to program an adapter that does the job. No idea how much this would cost but it would simply have to translate the d-pad directions and pressure sensitivity levels (very important) to the analog stick signals

What are you trying to accomplish?  (What game?)

What are you trying to accomplish?  (What game?)

GTA: San Andreas. R* decided to not give players the choice of driving/controlling with the D-pad, instead you are forced to use the analog stick. Unfortunately i've spent the past 3 years putting heavy  hours on the other 2 GTAs but playing with the D-pad. So its really frustrating to use the analog stick now, to the point where i'd rather just not play the game.

But if i can find a solution for it i dont mind paying for it. But it would have to be good pressure sensitive d-pad like the GTA3 and VC.
