I've currently got a 9200 with a arcadevga (7000 series), and I'm thinking about changing video cards.
I've setup another cab with advmame. (dos) and was wondering what card to get for this app. I'd like to be able to setup all of the 15 and 25k video modes as well as 640x480 and 800x600 (Mine is a newer 9200 that supports that res just fine)
I've heard that the Geforce 4 4600 will do it but that's going a little pricey.
Can a 4200 also do this?

See here for a few reviews:

I am using a regular old radeon 7000 on my machine right now with advmame on linux and have no problems.

I just completed my 33" D9200 install w/ Advmame and I've got to say that the Trident Blade T64 card is excellent (especially given the cost). I did have a bit of trouble at first configuring the .rc file correctly, as advmame wouldn't display the games native resolutions at all. Fortunately there are a lot of great sites/people to help, and Easymame Cab's site has an .rc file listed for this exact setup. One quick copy and paste later and all was good. (I did have to tweak a few things for my particular setup though).
If you've got any questions, fire away.

"If you've got any questions, fire away."
Yeah, whats the site with the rc file?
(My other 2 machines already run advmame.)
Thanks.

Here's the site address.

Look under the hardware section, then by D9200. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see that there is a small section posted with the video settings. Read through that whole section and you'll find a link in the text that will bring you to the full .rc file.
Hope this helps.

What version of advmame are you running, that file is quite old. .72

I'm running v.79 and that file worked fine. The video modes are the important part of the file, you could just use that portion of the .rc file. From what I've seen there doesn't seem to be much difference when it comes to the .rc files, but then again I haven't really messed around with the newest versions of advmame..... What version are you running?
I'd say just try running with that .rc file, what's the worst that can happen? (make sure you save your old .rc file first, for those just in case moments!)

I've got .87 running on my vertical cab and .88 on the Neo Super 29.
I tried different versions of advmame when I was orginally setting up the vertical cab and I seem to remember that you couldn't just copy video modes between versions..
(I could be wrong)
I'm running dos on the 2 smaller machines.
This one will be windows XP pro.
It will be my Jukebox/Daphne/NES/SNES/Whatever else I throw at it.
PC is a P4 2.8 800FSB/Dual Channel ram/ 1GB..
It has 2 tstick plus joys, 1 dedicated 4 way, 2.5 Happ Trackball, and a tornado spinner with 7 buttons per player. It's my frankenstein cab, the other 2 look like normal games.
I'm still keeping my eyes out for a good geforce 4, would be kinda fun to try out doom3 on a 27".
I've got a T64 in the vertical cab and it's a great pic, but that is alot more underpowered that the arcadevga.
