I would also like to offer my congratulations.  :D
I live in the UK and I can tell you that the majority on people here would have gone for Kerry. But I'm afraid that's the sort of left-wing liberal society we are getting over here lately.  ::)

It may surprise some here, but I would also like to congratulate President Bush.  He ran a heckuva campaign, and is the first president since his father to win more than 50% of the popular vote and the presidency.

I wish him an egg-free inauguration.
I wish him successful elections in Iraq.
I wish him a healthy economy that will recoup the jobs lost over the last four years.
I wish him success in his social security reforms.
and I wish him a world climate that will allow him to rule through pride and optimism, rather than fear.

To the Democratic Party:

I wish you would learn the lessons of the last 20+ years.  You need a candidate that is a charismatic governor, rather than a stuffy senator.  You need to insipre hope and optimism in your party, rather than relying on people to vote against the Republican.  Or you need to get out of the way and let a third party who can achieve those things run in your stead.

I have renewed optimism about my country.  Common sense does indeed rule.

I would like to congratulate the Dems though, to keep up with a charismatic, passionate guy like Bush even though your candidate was a wooden, flip-flopping Frankenstein must have taken a lot of good work.  :)

All joking aside it was a good race.

Well....to be honest, the Republican could learn a lot from third parties, as well. They're just not being forced to just yet.

To all of those who are griping about Bush:

How often over the last four years have you written your Representative or Senators about an issue?  You still have a chance to shape the face of the government over the next four years.  But you have to do a little work.  Participate, research the issues, and contact your leaders in Congress.  Yes, the Republicans have the majority in both houses, but that doesn't instantly guarantee every initiative will just fly through congress.  Every politician wants to be able to point to a few votes where they went against their party to show that they are bipartisan.  You can influence what votes they choose to go against their party on.  You have to let your voice be heard and let your elected leaders know how you feel.  Politics is more than just presidential elections.  It's more than just elections, for that matter.  Participate.

Let's see how much better off or worse the US is after 4 more years.

There's a couple of things I see that need attention
- Iraq War:  Not the war itself, but paying for it.  The way things are going now, your childern's childern's childern's will be still paying for this war
- Foreign Policy
- Poverty in America

Too bad the damage he is causing will last waaaay longer. >:(  But I guess if you instill enough fear into people, they lose their common sense.  Maybe all new Presidents should start a war.  It seems to work.  You can lose jobs, you can break Geneva Conventions, you can line the pockets of your friends, you can take away civil rights, you can violate treaties, you can crap on Canada, etc. etc.  You can even openly say you're going to continue this.
I'll make my "pre-emptive strike" and say it now, so when your standing there in disbelief over what this idiot does, and what he tries to do, you can come here.

I told you so.

Minnesota also knocked out republicans at the state level.  At least my local government will have some compassion for the "working man".  Maybe we'll take TA's advice and pull out of this messed up union. ;)
Think about it:
- We're not landlocked (Ocean access via both Great Lakes & Mississippi River)
- We produce our own food (in surplus)
- We run our cars on our own "corn gas"
- We're not overcrowded
- We have great natural resources
- We already have a tremendous amout of international exports: http://www.exportminnesota.com/PDFs/qes04q2.pdf (http://www.exportminnesota.com/PDFs/qes04q2.pdf)

What else does a country need?  We're nearly self-sufficient.  Nothing else, we can always merge with Canada. ;)

Can someone help clarify one of the false generalizations that are associated witht the republican party.

I am constantly hearing that Democrats are for the working man and that Republicans are mostly comprised of the upper income earning croud. If that's true then why have the elections been so close this year let alone previous elections? I mean the last couple of elections have been tight races. Does this mean that more than 50% of the population are out to hold down the working man and that approximately 50% or so are upper income earners?

I know this is a generalization since the hard working man / unemployed are influenced by scare tactics such as issues like the draft (Democrat proposed) but spun to look like a Rep thing and other such nonesenses

I was just rebutting the line you said regarding the majority of Americans comment.  As Bush didn't will the majority in 2000.  Regardless of OH, Bush won the popular vote this time.

Anyways, it's America's decision to move backwards in the times.  And I couldn't care less, cause with GW in power, the Canadian dollar gets stronger against the US$.  As the US has to keep creating more money to off set GW's spending habits.

As a California resident that voted for Kerry, I would like to say a couple things as my last post on the election.

First, congratulations to President Bush.  While I was more anti-Bush than pro-Kerry, he did win the election fair and square and Kerry did the right thing by conceding the election when he did.  There was no sense in dragging out the counting and slapping democracy in the face yet again.

Second, I'm really starting to see some equality flaws in the electoral college system.  Even if Kerry had won the election, it seems stupid that where you live determines how much your vote is worth.  Let every vote be counted yes, but let's pay special attention to the votes from these few states because they are worth the most electoral votes.

Shame on the Democratic party leaders.  Out of all the resources we had to pull from, John Kerry was the best we could come up with?  Yes, I voted for him, but it was a "lesser of two evils" vote IMO.  As the news has been saying, people preferred the devil that they know...

I am proud to see that so many people hit the polls.  Our Republic wouldn't work without people doing their civic duties.

And finally, now that the Republicans have majority control in the Legislative and Executive branches, when the current government screws up the Republicans won't be able to pass the buck and blame the Democrats anymore.  Let's hope Bush can accomplish some "tangible" good for the country in the next four years...

Think about it:
- We're not landlocked (Ocean access via both Great Lakes & Mississippi River)
Go drown the Vikings in either one - I'll leave that choice up to you

Quote
We produce our own food (in surplus)
And the Vikings seem not to like it, as they have a propensity for choking

Quote
We run our cars on our own "corn gas"
The Vikings (Randy Moss in particular) are so full of crap you could probably skip the Ethanol and go with their "natural gas"

Quote
We're not overcrowded
That's cuz no one wants to come there to see the Vikings

Quote
We have great natural resources
Elk and Moose?  Or as they're known here in WI, a Vikings girlfriend....you can have 'em

Quote
We already have a tremendous amout of international exports
I hadn't heard you were shipping any Vikings players overseas....can't stand 'em yerselves, hey?

What else does a country need?  We're nearly self-sufficient.  Nothing else, we can always merge with Canada. ;)

The Majority of American Voters think that they have a batter chance of things being better 4 years from now with Bush than with Kerry.

That's the weird thing, and really illustrates how abominable a candidate Kerry was.  Well over half of Americans have and still poll (and exit polled even) that they believe America is on the wrong track.  But in spite of believeing we are/have been on the wrong track they still put the conductor back on the engine (I hope that metaphor works....I think that's how trains operate  ;D )

The majority of Americans apparently believe that we will, in fact, be worse off in 4 years.  They didn't like Kerry, though, and apparently decided they'd rather keep heading down the wrong track than put that pansy ass in the white house.
