Title: Unbelieveable Deals (Auction Report)
Post by: PacManFan on November 01, 2004, 09:48:12 am
Hey everyone. I went to the Auction in Timonium MD. on Saturday, and I have to say that it was an incredible experience. I've been to several auctions before, including the Timonium auction last year.

The games to buyers ratio was extremely high. I personally witnessed several 25" and 19" fully working games given away for free. The auctioneer was yelling things like "Who'll take this home if I give it to you?", and "C'mon people, auctioning is a participation sport!". Most 19" conversion Jamma games were going for 10-50$, and 25" games from  10-150$

Amoung the classic games and pinballs was a beautiful factory UPRIGHT Discs of Tron, and a new Elvis Pinball.

Now for the unbeleiveable deal portion:
I got 2 50" Mitsubishi Projection screen TV's for 15$, That's right, 2 for 15$. I couldn't  believe it! I had a bit of trouble getting them home in a minivan, but I managed. I only intended on buying 1, but the auctioneer auctioned them as a lot.
One of the Tv's works 100%, the other one will not sync to an external signal on any of the a/v inputs. It's going to the TV repair shop tomorrow, even if it's a 200$ fix, I still got an awesome deal.

I also picked up a 1979 Gottlieb pinball called "Totem" for 200$, it needs some work, but that's OK.

Was anyone else there?

Try New Zealand, I can't recall the last time I saw a real live dedicated machine and we just don't have arcade auctions at all over here.

I think SuperAuctions runs the auctions in NJ... or at least some of them.

They're at http://www.superauctions.com

There was an auction very recently in Cherry Hill, NJ IIRC.  It just sucks I live at home, am only 20, and only have access to cars (no trucks or vans), or I would have been there in a heartbeat.

My unbelievable deal just got even better. I got my "Totem" pinball fully working after a little research and tweaking, AND I just fixed my other 50" projection screen TV, The sync problem was caused by a bad PIP board, I removed the board, added 2 capacitors to re-route the signal, and VOILA!, another fully functional TV,
Let's see, that's 7.50$ per TV, or ~.07$ per inch. I'm floating on air today ;D

Hey Pac Fan,

I was standing right in front of you when you won the big screens. Hellava deal. I wish i had posted something before the auction to see if any BYOAC members were going.

It was a great auction EXCEPT for the fact that they dragged their asses and din't start with the video games until almost 3pm.

The only game I was interested in was the Playchoice, but it was going to be the last one auctioned. From what I've heard it didn't end until 11:30 PM and some people didn't get out of the checkout line til almost 1am.

One of these days they'll hold an auction in Utah. I know they had one in Mesquite, but it was a week before I started visiting the forums.

Yeah, It was a great Auction, I had called WonderMellon(Mike) and Abrannan(Andrew)  to see if they could come up to the auction with me, but it was a little to short of a notice for them, so I ended up coming alone.

Yeah, the auctioning of the machines always starts late after they auction everything in the smaller room.
