Title: Hydra Controller

Is this controller the same (other then the handles and buttons) like a starwars yoke?

I'm considering hacking one instead of a starwars yoke since it has extra buttons (and I think i can get one cheaper)

I would hate to get it and find that it's y axis isn't as sensitive or something where it doesn't feel like a starwars yoke.

Since they are both by atari, ther is a good chance it would be very simular.  But that;s a guess.

what's the name of the other two star wars esque yokes out there?

There was a sub game with a simliiar yoke...  and one called road blasters (?) but I get confused as to which "-blaster" game had the star wars type yoke... ?

I think RoadBlasters used something similar to the Star Wars yoke - but didn't have the Y-axis.

There a few.

Fire fox, all the starwars games and a prototype that was sold quite a bit (think they produces the yokes before deciding not to produce the game).  These I know for sure.

roadblaster was NOT like it, just a X... no forward back (steering wheel)

I know that the hydra has the Y axis... but I don't know if it's as sensitive or have the same range of motion.

Darn...   I now have a saved search for hydra (although the one currently on ebay is reaching star wars yoke type pricing)

I used to play Hydra all the time, as well as Star Wars. And Hydra is not like Roadblasters, which is restricted movement. As far as I can remember the yokes movement was the same as Star Wars.

It shows 5K Potentiometers, like the Star Wars yoke and is otherwise almost the same.

The bidding did go higher than I hoped, but I hope it helps :-\ if I tell you that I found the yoke on ebay before I read your message and that I was prepared to go to $75 if I had to.  I myself got beat out for both star wars and roadblasters yokes by another member of this board, but hey, that's how ebay works.  Keep watching, the star wars yokes come up with some regularity and if you keep trying, you either get a good price, or find some quarters in the sofa to help pay for it (the latter was my approach)
