Title: Why can't I find Super Mario Bros?

I'm not asking for the roms (I assume they'll come on one of the like 8-DVD rom sets if I order them from someone from ********* or whatever that place is) but it seems I can never find a mario bros rom, were they asked specifically to take it off on like all websites?

I specifically remember a Super Mario Bros. arcade game (not playchoice, possibly "vs") because there was a mushroom in a different spot

Look in the games supported list that comes with mame (or generate it with mame).  Search for Mario.  A VS mario is there.

it's vs super mario bros....  

all games from the "nintendo era" were released with a "vs" in the title as they ran on the vs system, which was basically a suped up nes.

The  Vs. System actually came first. At least the Vs. System hit America before the Nes did.

No no, I KNOW it's supported, but I can't actually find the ROM on the internet (I'm not asking for it, this is just a quagmire to me)

dont get me wrong, i know it was probably out there I just thought it funny that it was seemingly missing from quite a few big name rom sites

Yes this is true, but unless I'm wrong I never implied otherwise. :)
