They've started on it. Don't look for it to run on any PC now in existence.
-
lol yea whats the word on Rush 2049? A 20ghz CPU needed or something to that effect?
-
It's actually more complicated than that... mk4 ran on a board that was pretty much only used for mk4 and thus nearly everything has to be built from scratch, including one or two processors if I'm not mistaken.
Just because this game is 3d doesn't mean it has anything to do with the other 3d games, which run on playstation hardware (well documented and realitively easy to emulate) as opposed to the custom midway board used only for mk4 and the grid (not so well documented and difficult to emulate).
-
You can play it using the Project64 emulator.

There's a PC port too, fwiw.
-
yeah, I have the PC version running on my cab and it works great.
-
Yeah... unfortunately the graphics are sub-par even for mk4 and it's just not the arcade, thus why I didn't even mention the various ports. However, if I were to mention one it'd be the dreamcast port, which adds two additional characters and doesn't suck. :)
-
Ya I know about all the ports but I don't really consider them true to the original game, they all add crap like Goro or DC has 5 extra characters
-
There is a guy working on it...forgot his name, but he has it playing the raiden intro at the beginning. So someday it should be. But it still wont be like the arcade. So I suggest buying the arcade....thats what I did.
Now Im looking for "the grid".

It sounds like once again when Mame fails, it's Dreamcast and NullDC to the rescue. I was almost about to settle for the N64 version, and I didn't even know MK4 was on DC. It's not really that good of a game, but I can be a bit of a completist at times, so having all 4 MK games running properly is definitely desirable. It'd be nice if the "arcade accurate" version worked, but I'll settle for "better than arcade accurate" when it comes to MK4. ;)

Yeah. That "guy" is Aaron Giles who is a MAMEDev. MK4 is fully playable in MAME. There are still a large number of graphical bugs and other issues attributed to the chips not being fully documented yet, but you can certainly throw in some quarters and play some matches. On my Core2 2.66 GHz Laptop I get about 90% speed in game.

Wow, old thread. But I commend Reptilz on searching up this old thing and not starting a new thread. :applaud:
