I'm going for another psx pad hack for another cp project. I have see a model in a store quite cheap, but it feature analogue controls apart from the digital buttons. Does this matter? I will use psx pad adaptors. Is there anyway to disable the analogue functions by hardware or software, or don't I have to worry about them because they will not interfere with the controls in MAME?

An original PSX controller would probably be your best bet. But if that's not an option, just wire up the buttons and directional pad, ignore the analog sticks, and map your controls however you want in MAME.
