I've recently built my first control panel, and I need some input because I am lost. I modeled my cp after the slik stik co2 (minus the right top-fie sticks - just 2 t-stick plus), asteroids config, trackball with three buttons on right side.
Ultimarc sent me 5 t-stick pluses instead of 1. I know i can wire this kind of set-up to the ipac4 i'm just not sure how. I've been looking over the documentation and haven't figured it out yet. when i test with ipac software, it says my second sticks are pushed, and the display looks jiterry like a button is being held down. Any input would be great. Sorry about the vagueness, but I don't really have the terminology for what I'm seeing. I'll try to answer any questions as well as I can.

Does that have anything to do with the problem?
I'm trying to understand your problem.
Is it how do you hook up multiple T-Stik to the I-Pac4?
Each player should have a joy up/down/left/right, reguardless if 4 or 8 way.
If the key is constantly 'pressed' you may have hooked up to the wrong side of the microswitch.
It should be gnd and Normally Open (NO) and the other is Normally Close (NC).
I may have gotten the 2 mixed up but someone here will correct me.

I had the extra set of joysticks wired to the ipac as buttons, as i assumed that the movement of the joystick would be counted as a button push. I unhooked the two extra sticks and all the problems went away. Unfortunately, I don't know how the extra set of joysticks need to be hooked into the ipac (possibly in the 3&4 player inputs?). Any thoughts? I know it can be done, as the slik stik co2 is hooked up to the ipac4.
I don't think that the t-stiks had anything to do with it, just the way i had it hooked up. You are right about the switches, i had to move all of them (got a bad pointer on that).

Standard hook-up would be to the P3 and P4 inputs. Note that the I-PAC/4 defaults for P3 joystick are the same as P2 B5-8, so you will have to reprogram the I-PAC if you use both. Note that MAME does not have default inputs for P2 Button 5-8 so you have to set MAME up for that.
I think most of your problems were from wiring the switches wrong.
Note also that it is arbitrary. In other words, you could wire your P3 joystick to the following terminals -
Up - P1 Up
Right - P2SW5
Down - P1SW3
Left - P3B3
Set MAME so inputs - all games =
P1 Up - Up arrow
P1 Right = I
P1 Down = Space
P1 Left = Enter
And you're golden. (not recommended, but it works).

You also may have messed up your ground wiring such that it's connected to a control wire.

Hey, thanks for the input. This should be what I need to get me going again. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a CO2 slikstik unit myself, but had to format my computer and I don't have the CD any more, I do, but can't find it. I was wondering if you have the installation CD?
I went online, but 2 of the files are missing.
Thanks in advance.
Rob.
