Try to guess my first project. Hints: 1. It's going to take a lot more money than I have at the moment. 2. It probably shouldn't be my first project.
-
uhhhhh.............
A time machine?
-
Oh, it's a type of arcade machine. ;)
-

A vector machine?
-
Probably a showcase cabinet with a 33" WG 9200 monitor.
-
I'm sorry but it has to be said.......
why did you waste our time with this thread?
It's not really secret now that you announced it on a forum... its just you saying you're doing something but not telling us what. Why not just wait til you are ready to announce it to.... ya know.... announce it?
:)
-
I like to make people try to guess stuff. If you don't want your time to wasted, just don't read it.
Actually, if nobody gets it after a while, I'll tell you, because I'm going to need some input.
Oh, it's never been done before, as far as I know.
-
I'm just saying... a project ANNOUNCEMENTS board isn't really the place to play a guessing game. Either announce a project or put it in Everything Else or something.
I didn't mean for that to come off mean if you took it that way, I just don't think that this forum is the place for it.... *shrug* I'll shut up now.
-
I like to make people try to guess stuff.
Pointless. We don't even know you personally, so how the hell are we gonna guess? ::)
Hey, I have some money and I am going to buy something. Guess what it is!
Hey, guess what i have? It's right here! C'mon, keep guessing!
Sheesh. :P
-
Dude how old are you?
Here's my guess, 8?
-
I'm certain that it is a 4-player cabinet scratchbuilt based on a modified lusid design with a trackball and spinner and a Wells Gardner 9200 monitor.
That is what EVERY newbie seems to want to build.
Now don't waste our time. I suggest registering a new name and starting over.
-
Jeez guys, that's kinda brutal.
Besides, this is a GREAT chance to make some ludicrous guesses!!
I guess... a Time Traveller "hologame" based MAME cab? I know THATS never been done!
-
Oh ok, in that case my guess is that he is refitting a Sega R-360 unit with Ms. Pac-Man.
Alternate choices include "restoring" an Edot to Streetfighter 2.
Oh, and there is also the other popular newbie choice.
X-Arcade and a television set in a gloss black MDF box that is sort of shaped like an arcade cabinet.
-
You bought a exspensive HD projector and are goingto Mame a Movie Theater? ;)
-Soul
-
Please dont harm any animals in the making of your mame cabinet :-\
-
if it's a cockpit with full motion, that would be a great project. why ? no one seems have succeeded in it ! and just about 3-4 projects here had cockpits

LOL!!! :D I like that last one. And that's only because I actually considered doing that at the very start :o (BEFORE reading these forums). In fact the more I read these forums the more I like reading comments from you Paige. You are abviously very knowlegeable but with a sarcastic streak.
Have you ever seen Red Dwarf? You remind me a bit of Rimmer? (Don't take offence. I actually think he's funny. ;))
-
ha!! you're all wrong!! he's going to build the Boise 6000 positronic brain scanner ;D
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=26258
-
OO...OOO.... I know I know....
He's going to build low cost housing for the poor!
Dude...that's so cool of you. Good Luck on your new project!
MameMaster! 8)
PS- I think we need to support our newbies!
-
Maybe it'll be a replica Boon-Ga Boon-Ga (http://www.sixsixfive.com/229.html)? Maybe with a new simultaneous 2 player mode? :P
Edit: Sorry, I couldn't resist. This thread is getting cruel.
-
That is AWESOME JoyMonkey, I love it!
-
"DUDE !!! Let's build a GIRL !!!"
-

LOL, this is the best response still. Wow, we will be so excited when he is done.
I'm hoping it is a computer space with a frankenpanel drilled into it.
-
Judging from the user ID, I'm guessing something Bemani based, possibly a mame Guitar Freaks or something.
Wait. For a second there I thought it was gtrarade, but it's not. So now I'm going for a sit down thing, for gt.
Or it could be a massive machine to take over the world. Using an X-arcade for the controls. You never know.
-
GT could stand for Golden Tee. Perhaps he's making a dedicated Golden Tee PC cabinet.
I still think my '2 player Boon-Ga Boon-Ga' cabinet is a great idea. All you'd need is two rubber gloves and a couple of stools placed inside a big empty cabinet ;)
-

Absolute quality! :D

This thread has now completely and utterly degenerated! Even I baulked at that line.... but it's still funny! ;)
-
a dedicated 2 player boon-ga cab would definitely be something to see..

-
hey x-arcades kick ass =)
-
Ok, it's a sitdown Gran Turismo 2 thing. But it has something special thats never been done before.
-
Oh Oh - I know...
Bass Shakers to vibrate with the action?
If not I claim credit for the idea... ;D Oops - never mind, been done-

Gran Turismo 2?!?
*2*!??
2 ???
Why base it on 2 when 3 is a million times better and 4 is coming in early 2005?
I am CONFUSED.
-
Gt2=$10
Ps1=$15
Gt3=$30
Ps2=$120
It would cost way too much for me.

Well there went your last chance on anyone taking you seriously. $100 is a tiny part of a sitdown cabinet budget.
Move along, nothing to see here but another playstation in a black box with a lawn chair in front of it! ;D
-
I know thats only a small part of the cost, but it's still that much more money.
-
Buy used.
-
Ok, it's a sitdown Gran Turismo 2 thing. But it has something special thats never been done before.
Grand Turismo Boong-ga 2!
2 Player Action! Stimulating Gaming Excitement! Bringing Friends Together!
--> One rides up front while the other one is the "back seat" driver? :o <--
-
really close, but not quite.
-
Well it might be a compilation of guesses:
It's something special thats never been done before...scratchbuilt...stools...2 player action...two rubber gloves...vibrate with the action...dedicated...kinda brutal...rimmer...so excited...Freaks...
The real question is what will be on the marquee :-[
-
i think its a pony. ;D
-
I'm just amazed that this thread is already up to 2 pages...
-
Wait, I know. He is going to take 2 Playstations and hook them up to 19" TVs side by side, and use Madcatz steering wheels on them!!!!b
-
I've got it :D http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7891 (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7891)

Whoa. I'd like to give that game a spin.

I thought this was the funniest thing I've read on these forums to date....then, I read this:
Grand Turismo Boong-ga 2!

did someone mention pushing your stool in?
All in all, this thread has taught me something. Never ask YOU GUYS to "guess what I'm doing". ;D
Good luck on that Gran-Boon-garismo. Make sure your crankshaft is properly greased

don't forget he will also get a Mercedes-Benz emblem and duct tape it to the top of the TVs
-
Do I smell a PhotoShop contest brewing? :D
-
Hey guys - this is fun! Now everyone try to guess what I MIGHT be THINKING of POSSIBLY building that may or may not be related in some way to arcade controls, but NO ONE HAS EVER DONE BEFORE!! If someone gets it within 10 guesses, they get a PONY! ;D
A photoshop draw-off may be in order...
-
I was able to get a spy shot of this project..... and I'm quite impressed. It's built of very sturdy looking wood, and I'm really digging the zebra print rug.... I'll keep you guys posted.

MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!
ROFL! ;D
-
Wait until you see a fat drunk man squeeze into this bitchin' Gran Turismo sit down!
-
Oh and someone posted why use GT2? It's old skool, man! I even found this old ad for that game!
;)
-
ROTFLMFAO... LOL

there's your prize-winner in the photoshop category (",) . and i thought i was a dab hand at finding useful pics...
-
haha, that Gran Turismo 2 ad is priceless.
-
Good job guys.
I'm sure now we ran that poor guy right out of custom arcade building and right into therapy.
He seemed so... into... his idea, I didn't have the heart to mention this monstrocity... http://www.virtual-gt.com/index.html (http://www.virtual-gt.com/index.html)
The gaudiest PS2 based driving cab! Behold it's glory!
LOL. Is it just me, or do those logos look badly photoshopped on? ???
Well, anyways, I think we've made the universe a better place to live. ;)
-
I'm going to say he works for the government, and it looks more like this:
-
3 Monitors for 180 Degree vision? Vibrating seats? Force Feedback Steering? Using the frame of a real car as your cabinet? It's all been done before... except maybe the last one. Any other ideas would be too lame
-
If he was REALLY cool, he'd mame a Sonic Blastman cab and configure the software so that you can control EVERY game by beating the crap out of it...
-
Actaully, they've used real car frames. I've seen a simulator like thst. Nobody's guessed it yet.
-

haha... you still think we're guessing?? ::)

It's a Transformer! Life size so you can sit in a play driving games, then with the flick of a switch, or maybe even a voice command, it transforms into a killer stand up/environmental arcade game!
Either that, or it's his new gay ass halloween costume.
-
I vote that if GTARCADE doesn't tell us within the next 12 hours, we delete this thread! >:(

I'll second that motion...
-
yeah...i love pointless deletions!
please!
this guy is a tool.
Wait!!!! Are you Carson Daily?!?
:P
-
Guys,
Aren't we all being a bit mean-spirited? Sure it was a poor attempt at being clever, but shaming him off the board probably isn't in the spirit of this place.
$0.02
-
Ok,
I'm going to make two GT2 Cockpit cabs and link them together.
-
Sounds very cool. You must have a lot of space at home!!!!
-
At last. Now we can get productive.
Have you decided what the cockpits will look like?
Are they going to be side-by-side or head-to-head?
I'd love to do something like this. The little lady would never give up that kind of real estate in the house though.
-
:)I've got it http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7891
showing my age again but I played that game in my bar days in the late 80's. Was a real experience after many budweisers.....I would give the proverbial left nut to have that!!!!!!!!!
-
Ok,

that's it? oh geez. thanks for wasting all our time! ::) that has only been talked about in here a hundred times in the past...though i will say i haven't seen it actually done yet.
now guess what my dream project is? c'mon...guess! :P
-
now guess what my dream project is? c'mon...guess! :P
um, a bowling alley? :)
"What do you do for recreation?"
"Oh, you know, the usual. Bowl, drive around, the occasional acid flashback."
and one especially for your avatar ;D
"effing Quintana! That creep can roll, man."
"Yeah, but he's a pervert, man..."
"I'm the Dude! That's what you call me, you know... That or His Dudeness, Duder, El Dudarino..."
"You never went to college..."
"Yeah, no, I did. But I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings, smoking a lot of Thai stick, heckling the ROTC, and bowling. Tell you the truth, Brandt, I don't remember most of it..."
"Smokey, this is not Nam, this is bowling. There are rules."
"Ah, eff it, Dude. Let's go bowling."
;D
damn fine movie
-
yeah a bowling alley would be sweet! but, no that's not it. keep guessing!
haha! screw guessing.
My dream project is to build 4 LIFE SIZE light cycles (from TRON) and have them with cool controls and 3 monitors in each, the 2 on the side of the main screen for side views. Of course they would have serious sound systems with subwoofers and cool hinged doors that lift up. If I were real lucky, they could actually lean as well. I would use one of the light cycle games out there like Armagedtron that have network support.
Basically the best Tron Light Cycle game ever! ;D
-
this is hilarious
i bet it has somthing to do with skate or die (720) or somethign like that, maybe a moving platform of some sort. maybe i big huge optical mouse type thing
-
GTARCADE: Please do an update on your project status!
