Title: Secret Project
Post by: gtarcade on October 24, 2004, 03:40:54 pm
Try to guess my first project.  Hints: 1. It's going to take a lot more money than I have at the moment.  2. It probably shouldn't be my first project.

Probably a showcase cabinet with a 33" WG 9200 monitor.

I'm sorry but it has to be said.......

why did you waste our time with this thread?

It's not really secret now that you announced it on a forum... its just you saying you're doing something but not telling us what.  Why not just wait til you are ready to announce it to.... ya know.... announce it?

:)
Title: Re:Secret Project
Post by: gtarcade on October 24, 2004, 10:05:36 pm
I like to make people try to guess stuff.  If you don't want your time to wasted, just don't read it.
Actually, if nobody gets it after a while, I'll tell you, because I'm going to need some input.
Oh, it's never been done before, as far as I know.
Title: Re:Secret Project
Post by: pointdablame on October 24, 2004, 10:12:15 pm
I'm just saying... a project ANNOUNCEMENTS board isn't really the place to play a guessing game.  Either announce a project or put it in Everything Else or something.

I didn't mean for that to come off mean if you took it that way, I just don't think that this forum is the place for it.... *shrug*    I'll shut up now.

I like to make people try to guess stuff.

Pointless. We don't even know you personally, so how the hell are we gonna guess?  ::)

Hey, I have some money and I am going to buy something. Guess what it is!

Hey, guess what i have? It's right here! C'mon, keep guessing!

Sheesh.  :P

I'm certain that it is a 4-player cabinet scratchbuilt based on a modified lusid design with a trackball and spinner and a Wells Gardner 9200 monitor.

That is what EVERY newbie seems to want to build.

Now don't waste our time. I suggest registering a new name and starting over.

Post by: Gunstar Hero on October 25, 2004, 04:25:03 am
Jeez guys, that's kinda brutal.

Besides, this is a GREAT chance to make some ludicrous guesses!!

I guess... a Time Traveller "hologame" based MAME cab? I know THATS never been done!
Title: Re:Secret Project
Post by: paigeoliver on October 25, 2004, 05:11:49 am
Oh ok, in that case my guess is that he is refitting a Sega R-360 unit with Ms. Pac-Man.

Alternate choices include "restoring" an Edot to Streetfighter 2.

Oh, and there is also the other popular newbie choice.

X-Arcade and a television set in a gloss black MDF box that is sort of shaped like an arcade cabinet.

LOL!!!    :D    I like that last one. And that's only because I actually considered doing that at the very start  :o (BEFORE reading these forums).     In fact the more I read these forums the more I like reading comments from you Paige. You are abviously very knowlegeable but with a sarcastic streak.

Have you ever seen Red Dwarf?  You remind me a bit of Rimmer?  (Don't take offence. I actually think he's funny.  ;))

Judging from the user ID, I'm guessing something Bemani based, possibly a mame Guitar Freaks or something.

Wait.  For a second there I thought it was gtrarade, but it's not.  So now I'm going for a sit down thing, for gt.

Or it could be a massive machine to take over the world.  Using an X-arcade for the controls.  You never know.
Title: Re:Secret Project
Post by: JoyMonkey on October 25, 2004, 02:32:45 pm
GT could stand for Golden Tee. Perhaps he's making a dedicated Golden Tee PC cabinet.

I still think my '2 player Boon-Ga Boon-Ga' cabinet is a great idea. All you'd need is two rubber gloves and a couple of stools placed inside a big empty cabinet ;)

Well there went your last chance on anyone taking you seriously. $100 is a tiny part of a sitdown cabinet budget.

haha! screw guessing.

My dream project is to build 4 LIFE SIZE light cycles (from TRON) and have them with cool controls and 3 monitors in each, the 2 on the side of the main screen for side views. Of course they would have serious sound systems with subwoofers and cool hinged doors that lift up. If I were real lucky, they could actually lean as well. I would use one of the light cycle games out there like Armagedtron that have network support.

Basically the best Tron Light Cycle game ever!  ;D
