This is a pretty small trackball.
In spite of it being a Happs I have never seen anyone talk about it. Does anyone have any experience with this unit.
It could be a blessing with that small foot-print.
http://www.happcontrols.com/trackballs/56020000.htm
The sales pitch goes:
Provides a big ball feel in a small package
Combination of precision stainless steel components high-grade injection molded plastics and superior optical encoders to create a high quality compact trackball
Trackball orientation settings can be changed with the flip of a dipswitch
Button & USB harness sold separately
Optional translucent backlit ball option
Optional mounting kit available
But without a review, I don't want to spend the cash.
Even in the BYOAC book, the most I can find is a single throw-away line that they exist.

Price seems pretty high....

I agree, very pricey. However with my original metal CP, this is the only one that would fit on there. If it had a good review, It would be worth the price to not have to open the case up and attach a mouse all the time.
The exploded view shows a footprint of 2.5 inches.
I could replace the original ball with a miniature 8 ball or a 40mm tiger eye sphere. and have a snazzy piece to boot.
I can't believe that everything I have my eye on, I am the first person to want one. LOL
-
Okay then....has anyone even used one?
It looks like it is made for the mame community as it comes with PC connections.
I can't believe they would keep offering this if nobody has purchased one.
-
$185? They are insane. I bet people have bought it ... but not many...
-
Betchya they sell more than you think!
Keep in mind Happs isn't in business to supply individuals. They do, but they make most of their money on big orders to companies. Those little trackballs are meant for manufacturers of kiosks, such as internet access kiosks, cyber cafes, and other PC-based kiosk displays where you need some sort of mouse control, but can't have a mouse due to the public's tendency to be stupid and steal/break such things.
