Title: Oscar Spinner Preferences
Post by: csbelli on May 24, 2002, 09:08:22 am
I plan to purchase an Oscar spinner or two soon and I was wondering if you I could get your opinions on which version you like best, version 1, 2 or the pro and why do you like one over the other.

Also, has anyone purchased and used Oscar's steering wheel control? If so, did you buy his steering wheel, buy the Happs wheel or use your own and what do you think of the performance? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Before reading on, bear in mind that I am at the beginning stages of planning my cabinet and have not actually used the controls I have purchased so far.

First of all, let me say that any product from Oscar Controls is going to be excellent.  The service is impeccable, the product quality is top notch, and I just cannot say enough good things about Oscar Controls!  :)

I decided to go with the Oscar Pro Spinner because of the large encoder wheel (has a better feel while playing) and the fact that it does not require a mounting plate.  There is a plateless version of the model 1 & 2 spinner, however being that the Oscar Pro spinner is plateless by design I thought that would be the best way to go.  It also has a self aligning bracket so you simply drill a single 3/8" hole, set the spinner in place, and screw it down.  (Oscar Controls has detailed mounting instructions on their website)  You even have the option of either the Ultimarc Opti-PAC interface connector, or a Hagstrom Electronics Interface connector.
