I'm using DOS Advmame with Advmenu as a frontend on my latest project. For some reason, the Advmenu comes up decntered to the right on my monitor, while the games are fine once they start. I have used this same combo on multiple setups and never had this before.
Any clues out there?
Oh yeah, the monitor is fine when running a normal JAMMA board on it, so it is not a matter of alignment there.

Are you using an ATI video card?
-
No, this time I'm using a Riva TNT2. It was one recommended on Purple Mame because it is better for interlacing.

Ok,
what resolution are you running advmeunu at?
did you use that resolution when you ran advcfg against advmenu?
-
Don't the nvidia cards shift the screen when the color pallete shifts?
i.e. 256 color vs, bgr16, vs bgr24 or 32

Thats why i asked about ATI, I know they do...haven't heard about nvidia cards though. Could try putting:
device_color_bgr15 no
device_color_bgr24 no
device_color_bgr32 no
device_color_bgr8 no
in advmame.rc and advmenu.rc to force everything to 16

That's a good question...... I'll have to check. I'll also try forcing the color.
Thanks

Also remember that advmenu is always autogenerating the resolution based on the video format line (i.e. you can't force it to use a specific modeline)
If the above things doesn't work you can solve the problem by using advv to find a modeline that displays correctly and then calculate the format line based on that modeline like this:
Modeline that works
7.273

Changed the modeline and it fixed it. For whatever reason that was it. Now I just need to re-tweak my monitor and I'm done.
