I've configured cpviewer..has a mockup image of my control panel and the labels created. I set it up with options to open with a C and close with an X.
I then configure it NOT to display on game startup in mamewah, but I do have it set in mamewah.ini so that when I press the key at the gameslist screen it should display.
So when I'm browsing the games I hit C and the CPViwer launches and it shows my control panel. The problem is, when I push X (or any other letter) the cpviewer doesn't close. I end up having to cntrl-alt-delete and end task to close it.
Now the wierd part is it behaved exactly as I described above the first time I tried it. Then later when I tried it again it worked perfectly (C opened it and X closed it) and I was able to use it repeatedly. But now it appears to not be working again (i.e. it opens correctly, but doesn't close).
Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe it's a focus issue? try hitting alt-tab, then X...

Yeah, or click the mouse...
I assume you configured the X key in CPViewer?

I continually had the same problem with CPViewer. I switched to Johnny5 and it has been much more stable.

I've been searching around for johnny5 download and can't seem to find it. Can someone post a link to it for me?

I've had endless problems with CPviewer & recent versions of mamewah in windows 98. It doesn't like to read files in and out very well it seems.

I'll look into the CPViewer focus problem this weekend. What exactly does it do? Also, I'm loading a Windows 98 box so I can test some of the issues that some users seem to be having with CPViewer and Windows 98 and generationg the games.ini file.
Thanks for the input,
John

I had a problem the other day with CPVGeneric - any key should quit but I found occasionally (~1/5 times) it would not quit. Clicking the mouse and then hitting a key would work, indicating that it had lost focus...
But it seems to work fine today, so maybe it was just me! :-X

I'm not sure the problem I described in the original post is a focus problem. Because even clicking with the mouse, alt-tab ing, etc...never gets me focus back where X will close cpviewer. Not sure what's going on though, because like I said in the original post...it did work for a little while.
FYI - I'm running XP home and the previous version of mamewah (haven't upgraded to the latest yet).

Did you configure an exit key in CPViewer under the Tools/Options menu?

yes, I configured the exit key to be X and the launch to be C. I configured it in mamewah and when browsing the list of games I hit C and it opens ok. But hitting X didn't do anything. I tried this several times with the same affect. Later in the day I had stopped and started mamewah for various reasons and tried again and it worked (C would close it). I did it several times and it worked several times. I shut the machine down that day and the next day tried again and it was hanging again (X wouldn't close it).
Not sure what the problem is though. One thing I just thought of..is that exit key case sensitive? Maybe I put a capital X in the options and the reason it was working for awhile was because caps locks might have been on?

same problem here with mamewah 1.51
is there a fix in 1.52?
I just resorted to opening the controls at game launch..never hangs there
