Title: Hantarex MTC900E and ArcadeVGA
Post by: jlossett on October 20, 2004, 12:56:41 am
Has anyone successfully used an ArcadeVGA with a Hantarex MTC900E?  I can't seem to get it to work.  I know the monitor is good because it works w/ a trident card.  But, I would like to run Windows.  I have tried it with and without the Ultimarc amp but no success.  I have tried adjusting horizontal and vertical pots, but I can't get the picture to be correct.  At it's best I can make out the Windows logo's, but it's like there are 2 of them.

I have tried composite sync, separate horitzontal and veritical sync going to both positive and negative sync on the monitor.  Do I need to do anything special with the ground?  I basically just have ground from the video amp going to the ground input on the monitor.

Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks
Jason

Has the monitor had a capkit installed recently? If not, then I would strongly suggest doing so. This model has tons of bad capacitors that cause all kinds of problems.

No, I don't think it has had a cap kit.  But, like I said, I get a PERFECT picture using hacked vga card and AdvanceMAME.  Shouldn't I be able to get the same w/ ArcadeVGA?

Thanks,
Jason

have you removed all drivers and tracesof your previosly installed VGA card before installing the ArcadeVGA drivers?

I haven't even gotten as far as installing the drivers.  I am running Windows XP and none of the screens are even readable.  This includes the BIOS, the bootup screens and the desktop itself.  I have booted into safe mode and it's exactly the same.  I can make out things like the start menu, etc, but it's nowhere near what it is supposed to be.  It's like there are 2 overlapping screens.  Maybe I should take pictures?

Thanks,
Jason

you need to install arcadevga the drivers from the ultimarc disk regular ATI drivers included in Win XP will not work

it sounds like it  is not working in 15KHz mode

also think 15KHz mode only works with top VGA connector on the card

I was under the impression that I should get a good picture on the bios screen and in Safe Mode even without the drivers loaded.  Is that not the case?

Thanks,
Jason

No, that is the case. Hmm. It sounds like either a) you're doing something strange that we haven't thought of or b) Your ArcadeVGA is broken.

You should certainly be able to plug it into any PC running any OS and get the middle VGA connector to outbut a 15Khz BIOS. If that's not working then something's wrong.

Well, I wouldn't put it past myself that I am doing something weird!  This is my first attempt at MAME.  I purchased a working cabinet from a guy and completely gutted it and started over.  I am now trying to get my new computer and the better(err, I am starting to wonder) ArcadeVGA working.  Anyone else have any ideas????  Is there anyway the ArcadeVGA is incompatible w/ the MTC900E?

Thanks,
Jason
