Ive seen it.   To be honest it was alright.

The idea for the movie is sweet but....

The script and acting were flat out awful..

I've seen it.  I was going to say I 'saw' it but....

I liked it.  What did they trim out to make it 'R' instead of 'NC-17?'

we need more NC-17 movies commercially released, I have some japanese released movies that make our worst movies look tame. Anyone ever see Ichi The Killer or Audition? heh, those are messed up

I seen Jisatsu Circle/Suicide Club (http://imdb.com/title/tt0312843/) about a year ago and it still makes me feel queazy thinking about it (especially on the subway). Possibly the most disturbing movie I've ever seen, and also the least entertaining- most of the way throught the movie I was thinking "Why am I watching this?".

yeah im into all kinds of japanese culture and stuff and ive noticed a lot of their "gore" movies are made just so they can put mass gore, the storyline usually sucks ass. But my fav director Takahishi Miike always has awesome story, and the wicked japanese gore we all love (well at least i do =p), i highly reccomend Ichi The Killer

i heard on cnn that it was the length of the sex scene.  they had to cut out a lot of it which is supposedly going to be included in the dvd release..

In that case I'll wait for the DVD.

wait, did they cut any blood or violence? or was it just the sex scene?

from what i remember, it was just the sex scene that got toned down.  they had to cut out certain positions and whatnot..  but that was the only difference between an R and a nc-17.  there may be more they add to the dvd..

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/06/leisure.teamamerica.reut/

Quote
As initially submitted to the MPAA for review, the film drew a proposed adults-only rating of NC-17, which bars admission to anyone aged 17 or younger in the United States and has long been regarded as box office poison by movie exhibitors.
...
But according to the Los Angeles Times, the MPAA board and the film's producers were at odds over a scene that depicts simulated sex between the wooden marionettes.
...
"There's nothing we're asking for that hasn't appeared in other R-rated movies, and our characters are made of wood," Rudin told the newspaper.

Parker added: "It's something we all did as kids with Barbie and Ken dolls. ... The whole joke of it is that it's just two dolls flopping around on each other. You see the hinges on their legs."

Parker told the newspaper he was surprised that the MPAA seemed more concerned with sex than violence in his film, which he said includes scenes in which a puppet likeness of actor Tim Robbins is set on fire and a Susan Sarandon puppet is dropped from a high-rise building.

in the interview with cnn, i got the impression that they kept the scene in, although edited.  i have not seen the movie so i may have misunderstood.

dont they like show nudity and stuff on normal TV in the UK? I always see these commercials from other countries that are hillarious but have some kind of sexual or "politicly incorrect" theme to it and it would never fly here in the US.  Freedom of speech... but censored TV... ok

What gets me is that it's perfectly fine to have a gruesome movie like Saw, where people are being tortured, ripped to pieces, cutting off feet, etc, but God forbid there's a scene where you have more than a flash of female full frontal nudity.

Just like the Super Bowl, everyone's traumatized over seeing Janet's breast, but few people complained about the simulated act of sexual violence with Justin tearing off part of her top.

I'm starting to think the Brit censors have it right.  Cut out part of Obi Wan headbutting an alien, but let The Sun show topless women on page 3 of the daily newspaper.
